1st week post op weightloss?

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! I'm getting banded on February 6 and was just curious to know how much everyone lost during their first post op week? 1st month?

Thanks!

I'd lost 15lbs during my first week. I will be 1 month post op on the 28th, so far I'm down 27lbs.

Thanks! I'm just taking it day by day. That weight loss definitely helped to keep me motivated.

I bet! How long post op are you? How much have you lost? Has it been difficult?

I started counting calories and measuring food portions the day I got home from the hospital and I really think that's why I lost a lot even early on. I lost around 13 pounds my first week and I lost close to 27 pounds the first month. By my first fill 8 weeks after surgery, I was already down 44 pounds.

Sorry, I didn't see those questions in your initial post, I edited my post above. Lol. But I'm not quite 1 month out, tomorrow is one month! I'm down 27 so far. That's since surgery, my dr didn't do a pre op diet. It hasn't been as bad as I thought. I haven't had the bandster hell that everyone talks about, so the eating hasn't been bad. I was pretty uncomfortable for a few days, but eventually that passed. Right now, I feel pretty normal, a little sore at my port site. But other than that, I'm just ready to get all this weight off.

Everyone is different so don't let what others lose get you down if you don't lose the same. I was banded 12/21. Lost 23lbs pre op. 7lbs the week after surgery. Nothing the two weeks after and when I got back on solids after that I dropped an additional 9lbs for a total loss of 39lbs so far. Any loss is a great loss!

I started my pre-op on Jan. 8 at 332. Last Monday, I was banded and weighed 315. This morning, I weighed 308. I am down a total of 24 pounds since starting the pre-op diet on Jan. 8. Last summer at my first visit with the surgeon, I weighed 346 so I'm down about 38 pounds since last summer. It's great and I'm looking forward to losing lots more. I like shopping in my closet for those clothes that I bought that would fit if I would "just lose a few pounds!"

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
