Biotin for hair

How much biotin do you take? Do you use what the bottle says or do you increase it? I haven't lost any hair, but I find it is difficult to manage lately. Thanks

Sadly,.Im in the US, where everything is big! Lol

I take Thompson Biotin, 5000, once a day. I got them on Amazon and they are super tiny...about the size of a birth control pill.

I'm wondering now if I'm taking enough reading how much you guys are on!

Most LapBanders hair only thins a little during the first 6 months or so after surgery because of the drastic change in diet and extreme weight loss, your body goes into shock. It usually goes back to normal after that. If you do have excessive hair loss after that time frame you should talk to your doc before taking Biotin. You may not be getting the nutrients you need and may have to add a few more supplements to your daily routine. ...but BEWARE! Biotin will make you grow hair in places you don't want it! For example, your chin and neck, and between your belly button and pubic area are the most common, but people have grown mustaches and hair on the top of their hands and feet. Make sure you are healthy and that isn't the reason for your hair loss! I have done EXTENSIVE research and talked to multiple specialists about this issue because I was one of you and already had hirsutism because of PCOS. Good luck!

Did some research on the web about weighloss and hair loss. This is what I found below. About six years ago I was on a high Protein, low carb diet and lost a lot of weight and also had the hair shedding, it settled within a few months.

Telogen Effluvium

Telogen effluvium is a phenomenon that occurs after pregnancy, major surgery, drastic weight loss, or extreme stress, in which you shed large amounts of hair every day, usually when shampooing, styling, or brushing. It can also be a side effect of certain medications, such as antidepressants, beta-blockers, and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. During telogen effluvium, hair shifts faster than normal from its growing phase into the "resting" phase before moving quickly into the shedding, or telogen, phase.
