how do you know if you band is leaking???
I was banded Nov. 2012 and have lost about 35 lbs. I have been getting regular fills since Jan 2013 every 6-8 wks and I still don't have restriction. I get maybe a week of feeling some slight restriction but then it disappears. Last week, 10 days after geting filled, we were grabbing a quick supper and I got a chicken sub sandwich thinking it would be a few meals. I ate the entire sandwich with no problems, not feeling stuffed.. I am so frustrated. Could my band be leaking and not holding the Fluid? Bonnie

is it normal to still not feel restriction
Hi All, I was banded Nov 8 2012 and have lost 40 lbs with 50 more to go! I gotten fills every 6-8 weeks since December and still don't feel a lot of restriction. I have only had one incident of sliming and that was because I ate way to fast. I am concerned that perhaps my band isn't holding the Fluid put in. The other night I was able to eat an entire chicken parm grinder on italian bread! And I had my fill 3 weeks prior. I guess my question is, could my band not be holding the fluid from my fills and how do they check it? Thanks Bonnie

Anyone else Blog? How did you come out to your friends and family about having LapBand?
I didn't come out to friends or family at first. My husband knew but my daughter and my parents were told about 1 week before surgery. I didn't want negativity going into surgery, but they were very supportive. Slowly I have been telling co-workers when they ask.

need a liquid diet day
I seem to be overeating and thought a day or two to get control again. I have had 2 fills and I have been so hungry the last week and half. I just need to gain control of my eating again.

need a liquid diet day
Hi Folks, Banded in November and I am having a difficult time staying focused. I definitely need a fill. Had trouble scheduling my appt and have to wait another 2 wks! I really want to do a couple of liquid diet days, I was wondering, for those that do this, what do you have and how much do you drink. I thought a Protein shake, some clear broths, like what I followed right after surgery only more than 2 oz at a time. Any suggestions?

Eating in the evening...
When I read your post, it was like I had written it! I was band on 11/8 and down 35 lbs and am having the same issues. It seems like at night the old habits come creeping back. I am working hard on finding things to replace food, I knit, weave and am desperately trying to motivate myself to exercising. I'm actually starting a kickboxing class tonight! I know I am eating from boredom and not from hunger. Stay focused and good luck

Headache help
I had to do liquid Tylenol for 2 months. Not easy to find the adult version, but you could do the kids version just take alot of it. No ibuprofen for the first 2 months either. When in doubt, call your doctor, thats what we pay them for! Feel better

Thinking of switching to a sleeve
I have to agree with A New Dawn. I just had my second fill, banded Nov 8 and it has taken me this long to really get it. If I eat when I am not focused on eating, I tend to eat too fast and take bites that are too large. I then get that pain in the center of my chest, fortunatley I have never thrown up yet! But it is so important to eat slowly, chew chew chew, and rest up to a minute between bites. It is a new life, it takes time to learn how to live it \ Good luck

I did it!!!!
Me too! went to the dr yesterday for a blood pressure check, (still don't need to go back on meds) but the scale read 199! I haven't seen that in years! Good work megamomnj, my surgery was on 11/8, this is definatley the best decision I made

Dry mouth
I had that problem and it goes with being dehydrated. Just keep sipping or eat ice chips. If you are doing liquids, have some broth. The sodium in the broth actually helps. It took almost 2 months before I stopped having dry mouth spells, I was banded NOv 8. It is really important to get your liquids in. I didn't and ended up at an urgent care center for 4 hours getting 2 bags of Fluid. I was about 1 1/2 weeks out of surgery. Good luck, you can do this, things take time

Clear liquid phase and pills?
I had to crush or take liquid for 2 months after surgery! I was banded Nov 8 and just started taking pills without having to open or crush them.

Biotin for hair
How much biotin do you take? Do you use what the bottle says or do you increase it? I haven't lost any hair, but I find it is difficult to manage lately. Thanks
