Contemplating removal.. :/

Why is removing the Lapband so much easier said than to do?!

I've had soo many issues w this.. 5 yrs of great ups and low lows! Yet not sure which way im leaning on this choice... i really do want it to work!

in the past ive Lost 50lbs. Then.. Threw up for a year, Wasn't losing any. Had it finally slip n had Fluid removed.. Now after 1 1/2 months of liquid/ soft diet. I feel sick.. And it feels Lapband related. So without insurance I have to go to the ER - the Lapband dr says the video looks excellent.. Looks like it fell back into place perfectly... Has anyone heard of this? I'm a nervous wreck to get a fill! It hasn't been successful in the past, and I feel like the pressure from my family n friends is definitely making me lean towards removal. Any suggestions? The dr wants to meet me w next wk to insist on a fill... Would definitely love feedback!!! Thanks guys!

Right now I'm thinking my band may have slipped also! For a while, after I was first banded, I had a problem with getting fills. Just the band on my stomach with no fill had some benefits. Maybe smaller fills? I know I couldn't do the recommended amounts! I personally wouldn't have it removed, it doesn't hurt anything to leave it and not fill it. Once your able to get back to eating solids and your system gets use to it again I would think you would start feeling better. I would always leave surgery as the last option! Good luck with your decision and keep us posted!

For me, to make an informed opinion, I'd have to live with someone for a month or at least a week to see how they ate, what they ate and observe how they behaved when dining out or away? There are so many reasons why a band or bander fails it's nearly impossible to offer any valid suggestions?

For exampe: If I lived with someone who did not follow the band eating rules, and just could not be compliant, I'd say remove it. If that person followed the rules, you know, eat slow, chew big, slow and healthy, but the symptoms remained? I would advise them to remove all the fluids or as much as possible to keep some kind of restriction? Or, just remove it altogether. If the patient is failing the band, they have to make a decision? Wise up or give up? If the band is failing the patient? If nothing else works, remove it? Only you can know what patient you are? Just my two bits.

What do you mean you feel sick...Lap band related?

Mine slipped and fell back into place. I was showed my before slip, slipped and after videos to see the comparisons...so yes, that's possible.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
