Silly Question but can I wear fake nails during surgery

I got a gift certificate to get fake nails & would love to go get them put on but wondering if they are allowed during surgery.

Thanks

When you say 'fake nails' do you mean acrylic nails? I would think that is fine (it's not like they will fall off). But, I would check with your doctor or the hospital to be sure.

Good luck with your surgery.

i know i had solar nails on when i had my Tummy tuck..... they didn't say anything.... maybe call and ask first.

yes, acrylic tips. Thanks ladies, I have an appt with the nurse tomorrow.

Ask the hospital, because many anesthesiologists will say no fake nails or nail polish of any kind are allowed to be worn during surgery.

The reason is, they watch your nails for signs of breathing distress while you're under. If they see your nail beds turning purple or blue, they know you need more oxygen. It's all part of the many little things and signs they use to be sure you're getting the best care.

sure u can I did if they don't like it they can use a toe nail to put the pluse ox on but it works very nicely over the nails

I have acrylic nails, done in natural finish, not color like french manicure. Have never had a problem with them.
