Try to make sure you are sitting up straight. I sit at a desk all day too and if I slouch I get a little discomfort around my port. If I sit up straight it doesn't bother me one bit. Not sure if that would help?

My nutritionist told me that because of the surgery I should be taking twice the recommended Vitamin dose. So if the bottle says two a day, I should take 4. Anyone else hear that?

Did she say why? I have not heard that, but again each dr and staff are different.

Current pre-op wt 344 down 314.4

I had my first fill yesterday. I must say it was quite uncomfortable for me. Perhaps next time will be different, if not, well as some say, no pain, no gain (or loss as in my case). I have to do liquids for 2 days, mushies for 1, then back to regular food. She did say I was more than on track regarding my weight loss. I was disappointed though when she said their plan had me hitting goal in 2 years and their goal was a higher weight than mine. However since my history with losing a large amount of weight in a short time was filled with serious complications, this is a lesson in patience for me. It's also one of the reasons why I chose the band/supervised weight loss.

My journey began in Oct. 2012 (banded Dec. 19th). Since then I have last 40 pounds. I will Celebrate after this next ten pounds because not only will I be at 50 pounds loss but I will be out of the 300s. I am motivating myself to see that goal like never before. Six months ago I would have said it was a lost cause. But now I am more thrilled than ever. I changed my picture today to this pic I found on Bandster's blog. CHANGE! I can see it happening now. I am excited not only for me but for all of us. WE can do this!

I have been fluctuating with these same three pounds for a couple of weeks. I am ready to see the scale move too. I should get my first fill on 2/5 (six weeks out) but I am seeing that the first one is not too much help. It still amazes me how every doctor/ experience is different amongst us.

I feel the same as you I keep going up and down the same 2 pounds! It's so frustrating! My first fill is 2/8 I'm hoping that helps me lose...

Hoping for a fill on monday and more info on calorie intake, expected weight loss per week etc....you guys are doing great, all of you that are waiting for your first fill, you can do it! You are doing this for you, we all ate plenty of the wrong stuff before[/quote']

Try Biotin I am taking it everyday and my hair stopped falling out. Even the normal amount that would fall out before the surgery has stopped!

OK. So I KNOW alcohol is an empty calorie intake... but I have drank some wine from time to time since new years (banded on 12/3) an the last 2 times I've drank a certain amount I've had excruciating pain in my upper abdominal area for like 5-10 minutes. What is that all about?!

Me too... Those dang 2 pounds. Everyday it goes back and forth. I just keep plugging away, hoping next time I step on the scale, they'll be gone!!

Hi all! Banded 12/21, had my first fill this past Monday. It didn't hurt at all. A minor pinch. Nothing like some of the horror stories I've read. I have 3cc in. Still no real restriction. Doc wants to be careful and take it slow. I'm good with that. 38lbs down so far. Feeling great!

yep me too. i had my first fill on monday. i'm glad, but i only got 1cc. i guess a little is alright for beginners. but i'll get more next month. my fill didn't hurt, it just bled. i am down 21. that was pleasing to find out. i forgot to ask about exercising more. all i've been doing is walking. :) and yes not much restriction. my doctor had me sip some Water to make sure it didn't get stuck.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
