Keeping it a secret

You are correct. It is just a hurting feeling sometimes but I have to do what I have to do. I feel so much better and that is only with 30+ pounds off. I cannot wait until a year from now!

I have only told one coworker. The rest including my boss have not been told. I used vacation time to have my surgery and what I do on vacation is my business. I don't need negativity right now so I have only told a few people. I only want support right now. I haven't decided about telling anyone on down the road. We will see.

Yes I think that's the road I'm going to take as well. With weight loss people just get competitive and stupid. My co worker never treats me to anything but last month I was on the herbalife diet. Just to kind of detox myself and she brought in goodies all the time but still told me to stay strong. Yea! I'm really glad I got support on here and I feel good going into this know I have positive people to turn to. I don't think I'm even going to tell my sister because will will post it on Facebook.< /p>

I'm so glad to know that everyone thinks the same. I thought not telling people was selfish but I just don't want people down my throat about everything. It's a girl at work who had it done and unfortunately people know and when she have a sweet great people are behind her back saying umm should she be eating that. So I just don't want to be the center of everyone's conversation. So I think I'm going to keep this a secret.

I get banded on Wednesday. Using vacation time to be off of work. I'm not telling anyone at work. I've mentioned Protein shakes to a few people and asked one about what app she was using for calories. When I go back Im just going to say I'm under doctors care and its a New Years resolution. Most know I have a thyroid problem so I'm hoping it won't seem like a big deal that I'm "dieting".

I've told family members and a few friends. None have been negative but I'm a pretty strong personality so I doubt any would have the guts to try to be negative to me.

And I live by words my dad told me long ago when a friend hurt my feelings "will that person be in your life in 20 years. 10, 5, 1? If not then don't worry about what they think. And if the person will be in your life for 20 years and hurts you then you need to think long and hard about that person remaining in your life." So as long as my son supports me (and he does!) I'm good.

Best wishes to you on your journey.

Wow those words really cleared up many of my Geelong Tara. I have been struggling mainly on what people at work say or treat me. I started Protein Shakes (herbalife shakes) on and off and I got hit hard with negativity from the girls at work. It's very compatible where I am. I don't plan on being in anybody their lives for years so good advice from ur dad. I will carry those words with me.

Have anyone had the lapband and kept it a secret from nosey co workers? How did you go about doing this and is it easy to be intimate without you partner feeling the port?

It's funny I tried to hide it at my job but decided to tell those around my cubicle since they will notice my absence. Most of them were interested in the lapband too. They were excited and wanted me to tel them everything, I was kind of floored. But I only told 3 people. I am definitely on board with keeping it private to those I don't know well.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
