Just Had To Share Strange Nsv

Recommended Posts

This is a strange NSV, but I wanted to share it.

I'm a Long Islander, and I was without power (and heat!) for 8 days following Hurricane Sandy. And for three days after my power came back on, we had my mother-in-law stay over because her power wasn't back yet. (She's nice, but I haven't told her about my surgery - she wouldn't understand.)

Here's my victory: During that whole time, I managed to make good food choices and not go for comfort food. In the past, I would have binged on Mallowmars and Devil Dogs. In a situation where I previously would have crumbled, my band helped me stand firm.

And today I got my reward: I'm down to 199!

I'm a Jersey shore girl, moved to CT, but with all my family down on the shore still. I kept thinking, who needed lap band- I don't think I ate more than a nibble since the Thursday before! And wasn't hungry! Not a diet I'd recommend for anyone- but I was able to get so much done. I'm sure some of it was my totally change in outook towards food, but i now understand when people say they are too busy, stressed, or forgot to eat. Now to try to get back to eating (health) as we settle in for the long haul.

Hope you made out ok. Our houses have a lot of Water damage and other to be expected issues, but in a town that lost 25% of the homes that is luck! No power, gas, or sewers for up to 6-8 months- but again, not feeling the need to eat makes it easier.

Hugs to anyone else going through this, we will all survive!

Way to go! Hope things are getting better on the Island.

Good for you! 199 for me might as well have been 120! Haha. I felt like a million bucks, and it just keeps getting better. After a short plateau I have now broken 190 and am at 188! Keep it up girl!

Thanks, everyone! Farmgirl04, my sympathies to your family down on the Jersey shore. The damage those communities suffered is heartbreaking. I have nothing to complain about, compared to so many people. I live on what would be the "spine" of Long Island -- neither north or south shore, so all we suffered was a little roof damage. It's hard to believe that so many of the beaches and towns I've visited are damaged or destroyed.

Wonderful NSV! But then you got the scale victory as well. Congrats on "onederland."

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
