Help! Had my second fill on 10/12. Currently have 4.5cc in a 10cc band, surgery was 8/17/2012. Lost 38.4 pounds so far. Had productive burp/sliming both Saturday and Sunday late afternoon after just a couple of bites of food. Since 10/18 have been only able to take in around 500 calories per day - all Protein. No problem with Water or hot tea. I'm private pay and my surgery cost covers first three months post-op, thus I really don't want an un-fill. Just called my surgeon and left a message for his nurse. Since I can tolerate fluids, what are the chances I could go on Protein Shakes and see if this resolves in a few days?

Try to just do the liquids right now, because I did the same thing and my Dr., unfilled me twice and I gained, so if you just do the Proteins you will do fine, lose while you still can, the first 6 months you will lose well, so try to stay on liquids.

I'm in same boat as we speak...had a fill to 6cc, did my three day liquid after fill last week. This week it feels so restricted. I can definitely get liquids down, a little cheese, and only soft foods. But I tried my favorite home made Olive Garden potato Zuppa Soup and I'm just burping miserably. I do t want to get an unfill and I don't want to starve...only option is to stay with very soft mushies and Protein Shakes til my stomach is ready, which means lose a few pounds? Not sure I just don't want to go back, I'm still nourishing just not enjoying which is not a good thing.

But would love to add, I'm losing more in this second year than ever, but I chose to fill slower. Have about 20 pounds to go to get to goal.

Yeah for you!!! Congratulations on your weight loss! I brought some Fage non fat greek yogurt for Breakfast, which I didn't attempt until after 1:00pm. This is what I usually eat for almost every breakfast. After two bites I knew I had to stop. Wouldn't that be considered a soft mushy?

This is kind of a touchy subject because there are those of us who don't believe in being too tight and those who love being really tight.

I think liquids are fine for a few days, see if you loosen up a little. When you eat are you eating really small bites (dime size) and taking your time between bites? But, if it doesn't change I say go in for a slight unfill. You need to be able to eat because PBing and throwing up can lead to complications and band slippage. You can also consume a lot more calories in liquid. Also, it's just not healthy (in my opinion).

I can eat most anything, I have no problems with any protien, bread, Pasta,... I don't eat a lot of things that are unhealthy except on rare occassions because I know that a diet with lots of these things is not going to be productive but when I want a slice of pizza... I can have one. I think if I could not eat solid food I would induldge in things like yogurt and icecream and anything that went down easy and really never be satisfied. The band should supply restriction but it is also there to help create satiety.

Listen to your body, glad you called your doc.

Best of Luck

Your fill was on the 12th so that means you've been trying to sustain on about half of the calories you need daily for about 10 days, and bupring and sliming. If it was going to resolve itself it would've by now. It sounds like you are too tight and need a slight unfill.

Contrary to urban legend, too tight is not good. It doesn't make you lose faster, in fact, it often will even result in a gain because you're forced to live on slider foods. Very often when someone is too tight they lose more after a tiny unfill because they actually eat adequately and healthy again.

Too tight is also the leading cause of band slips. It's simply not worth the risks.

Best wishes.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
