Down 13 pounds on pre-op! Less than 2 weeks to go!

The Protein Shakes from the doc are pretty good, but a bit on the thick side.

I had to attend a pre-op class yesterday and they talked all about preventing blood clots.

Did anyone else got this?

Keep moving and you will be ok. Pretty much a precaution and t

Hose that get them, with some exception, haven't moved enough.

Bought 3 Protein powders today by syntax, nectar.< /p>

Liked all three. All have 23g of protein.Zero fat, zero sugar, 100cal per scoop.

Roadside Lemonade: 1 scoop powder, 16 oz crystal light

Blend, serve over ice. Refreshing!

Tea with Lemon: 1scoop, 16oz Water, ice! Yum.

color looks more like iced coffee

Chocolste truffle: 1 scoop, 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup skim milk

Blend with ice. Not a milkshake, but not bad!

These are just the way I made them, they give suggestions on the container.

$41 each at the Vitamin Shoppe.< /p>

Tomorrow is the day!!!! I'm sure I won't sleep a wink! Don't forget a robe, socks and chapstick. I'm also taking a fuzzy throw to put on my legs. Of course, this only applies to those of us that are staying overnight. Oh, and your cellphone charger so you can keep us all updated. Good luck everyone!

As I sit here reading all of these posts I can't help but feel really excited for all of us!

We're really doing it … it's here … this is OUR month! I don't feel very nervous, but more excited then anything! After surgery I'll be a little nervous while things adjust, but I will stalk this page so I can put my mind at rest with reading all the post-op adventures! B)

My Dr said after surgery for 3mths you need to move during the day to keep from getting blood clots. He said get up every 2 hrs and move. I know there are ppl on here who have had them, maybe they will get on and discuss it.

Day three of pre op diet and I must say it is getting easier. I notice that I'm eating less at dinner time. I have the Cookies and cream is pure low carb and I mix it with fat free chocolate pudding. It is so delicious. I have to say I notice where my bad habits are. It is when I get home from work I want to snack when I'm cooking dinner. Ugghh

Gals, don't get too worked up! If you don't get up to walk around often, then you run the danger of developing blood clots! As with any surgery! My rule (since I have had a few surgeries) is to get up once an hour! We will need to do this for gas anyway! I am starting to get anxious! I am on day 6 of 14 clear liquids! Doing good (haven't cheated) I have lost six pounds and the day after tomorrow is my pre-op! The 14th is around the corner!

Merry Christmas December bandsters!

Amazon has them in 2lb tubs for $32. It comes out to about $1/serving. I've used the Fuzzy Navel flavor for the past week.. today was Day 8, I think. My Cappuccino flavor came in this evening. I'm excited to try it in the morning! Thinking I might try it with almond milk (I've never had almond milk, but I bought it for my pre-op and haven't braved it yet, LOL).

Anyway, I really like the Fuzzy Navel!

I'm glad to hear it's getting easier for you, Nancy! I know that Day 4 was a breeze compared to the first 3 days. I'm on Day 8 now & although I've had some moments where it was difficult, it passes quickly. My bad habit is not going to bed at an acceptable hour. I have 4 kids, a rambunctious husband and a dog... once they all go to bed, I'm just so happy to have the house to myself for the first time all day (we homeschool) I stay up WAY too late. That's a dangerous time for me... that's when I would always eat. I just need to find some other time to enjoy my "me-time" during the day and I need to get myself to bed by 10:30-11:00. I can't keep up with these 2:00am bedtimes and expect to be up and running by 8:00am anymore, lol. Plus, if I go to sleep, I'm not hungry!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
