The First Week After Banding Emotion...

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone. I'm 23 and got banded last week. I'm having mixed emotions me feel over whelmingly sad and I'm not sure why. I'm still confused about a few things and feel like I'm constantly worried. Someone tell me it will all be worth it in the end...

It will, and everything you're going through is totally normal. I remember thinking "oh my gosh what the hell have I done to myself?" and even crying more than once. My emotions were all over the board that first week or two.

The fact anesthetic and pain killers can make you rather emotional doesn't help, either.

Hang in there, it gets easier and much much better. :)

Your body is now in the process of healing...and adjusting to literally a "new order" within you. Hormones which contribute to emotions and mood swings are gyrating, and your likely not feeling your best physically either.

The feelings you are describing are normal and do come with the "territory". All of your efforts and change in lifestyle will be worth it...your band is a very self empowering tool. You will determine the level of success you will have with it.

If you're feeling confused and over whelmed, this forum is a great place to ask questions and learn best practices from others who are on the same journey.

Best wishes for your success...

hey, im 22 and 5 days post op the first three days were hell,, i was crying and pissed off and every one and so annoyed that i couldnt eat,, then yesterday i got up and had some energy m was so angry so i went for a walk,, the longer i walked, while it was a little uncomfortable, i started to notice i had more energy, and by the time i got home had a shower and my shake i had a nap and woke up feeling much better,, you just have to remember that this will all be positive,, this isnt the easy way out,, or the drastic option , but it is the best option for us, and it will work,, keep lookinh for other ppl's success stories, there is a girl on youtube, katie look her up her video's are amazingly helpful she talks about everything from the emotional ups n downs, to food and excerise and how her life is changing,

good luck, keep yourself busy , i weight and measure myself everyday as i find it help me keep the long term goal in mind,

Your up and down emotional state is very normal. I remember crying for no reason some days, it felt like it was for no reason till I worked out why. My reasons were mourning food, go figure, as if i couldn't ever eat again! It's a huge change from pre banding and it takes emotional adjusting.

I'm three months banded now and I am so much happier, even though I have a long way to go. All the emotional ups and downs are worth it when you look in the mirror each week and see yourself getting smaller and smaller....

If you need to cry have a good cry, get it out of your system, a good cry from time to time can be a good thing.

Months from now you'll think back and think why oh why did I ever cry, lol.

I'm six days post op. I cried yesterday thinking I made the biggest mistake of my life. I find coming on here and reading success stories to help my mood. We knew what we were getting ourselves into and I will get better!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
