Ok I was banded 5/14 weighed in at 236 starting weight though was 253. Hadn't lost any weight since then! No restriction no motivation and sick of going to get fills every month! I weighed in Thurs at 234 gained two pounds from previous weigh in last month! Expressed my frustration to the nurseaan

As long as you can down fluids I would stay where you are?

What do you mean by tight? It takes some major adjustments to eat right with the band once you get close or in the green zone.

Anyway, give it a try where it is and see if the swelling goes down. I've seen many posters here wait a few days and the band loosened enought for them to continue without an unfill.

-Are you sticking to a cup or less of food per meal?

-How many calories a day are you eating?

-Are you exercising?

-Are you getting in all your daily Protein?

All of these things are important to be successful with the band. Keep in mind being "super tight" isn't what will help you lose weight. Making good food choices and limiting your portions is what helps you lose weight. All the band is supposed to do is help you to be satisfied with less food for longer periods of time- not make food choices for you and not stop you from eating.

I have had some similar feelings lately as far as stalled weight loss. When I asked about it my dr. said (I assume this is true, who really knows) that when you reach a point you've been at before, especially if you were there for a long time - your body remembers that and hangs on to it for awhile. I have noticed that on the days I'm feeling discouraged I I revert to my old habits of seeking comfort in food. I may only be able to get a tiny bit down but sometimes I pick ice cream instead of veggies... that's ok once in awhile but it's really REALLY not ok to be doing as often as I have been. So in being honest with myself, I have started admitting that at least a little of it is my own fault. Not saying the same is true for you but maybe you can look at everything in your life and try harder - are you exercising? Counting calories? Doing Vitamins and all the rest? If the answer is no to any of it, it might help you. Time will too. Don't give up - best of luck to you.

Thanks to u yal!! I haven't been staying on the straight and narrow because I just felt this band wasn't helping so I'd get motivated and them unmotivated same as before I was banded. I do actual feel a change with this latest fill so I have hope I'm just scared it mayb too tight cause I can't eat solids at all hopefully it will loosen in the next week cause I'm afraid to get an unbridled and go bk to feeling like nothing is even in there

I'm with ya, totally frustrated! I was banded 4 months ago and haven't lost a pound! My eating habits haven't changed much either. I should have had the sleeve, I didn't realize the band required so much will power. If I had will power I wouldn't have needed surgery in the first place!!

Just FYI- it doesn't matter if you have the Band, Sleeve, or Bypass. You have to make healthy lifestyle changes for a lifetime or you won't lose weight. All WLS surgeries are only tools, not magic bullets. The work is will always be yours to do.

if your eating hasnt changed, the band or sleeve most likely wouldnt work either

you have to help the band to work.....its not a matter of will power, its want to power

If you haven't lost weight it's because you are eating too many calories. It's really that simple. I would start by writing down everything you eat in a day. And I mean everything except toothpaste. Add those calories up. If its more than 1200 the odds of you losing weight are slim. There are lots of phone aps which make it easy to track your calories throughout the day. Try it for a month... I bet you will see results.

I can't help but wonder if you had much education about the band and how it works prior to having surgery. I am not saying that to be mean. I really wonder. My hospital puts you through the ringer before surgery. I had to go to a group psych class for 6 weeks for behavior modification amoung other classes and information sessions. I knew, before I did it would not be easy.

You can do this. Follow the rules, fill up on protien and healthy veggies. You have to... HAVE to, eat healthy or you will fail.

I wish you the best of luck!

Someone at another question suggested this app called Lose It! It allows you to track your calories and exercise. The tracking does allow you to see things straight out and look at your calories. I love this. Try that for a little while and see if that helps. I feel your pain because I did not expect this either ( the feeling of bandlessness) but I am going to work through and pray for my fills. I know the band can work.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
