The November 'band'wagon!

On June 14th I met with the doctor and began the journey of testing and evaluations. This coming Wednesday I will (hopefully) have my meeting to review my sleep study results and receive my final green light of clearance!

I am praying all goes well and that Amerihealth Insurance doesn't deny me after all these months of testing and anticipation.

I think a little puree turkey will do just fine this year for Thanksgiving… here's to crossed fingers for a November banding!!

Anyone else in the same boat? :D

Hello everyone well it's over' date=' I am back home now resting in bed and walk around my place by far the gas is the biggest problem but walking to seems to help a lot. now that the gas its subsiding a little bit I can feel the port and it cuts now. If anybody is wondering this reminds me of doing way too many sit ups then a couple days after that. so far sipping broth and clear liquids is plenty. Take care everyone I'll try to update later today, I hope everyone is doing well.God bless.[/quote']

Congrats! You're doing great!

Approved! Just a few hours too late :( Although I am now officially a December Bandster I am happy that the final bureaucratic hurdle is cleared.

A question for those who are on the clear liquids diet post op. Are you getting protein? You can't add chocolate protein to soup or Jello so what do you do? Sorry to sound stupid but I am a bit confused. And when you you start the protein shakes?

No. I was on clear liquids for 5 days post op. goal is to stay hydrated. The protein comes later ( check with your dr though)

Trying to find a good protein shake still any ideas? Being banded thrus.

Focus on staying hydrated. I was on clear liquids 48 hours post op. When I started full liquids is when I started focusing on protein.

Did you try the powdered whey protein from Costco cause I was going to pick that up tomorrow.

Not yet, started off with the pre made vanilla shakes. They are really good but will try the protein powder next due to cost. If you get it le me know how they are!

My doctor had the same orders for me stay hydrated until my first office visit is most important. I am drinking diet green tea and crystal light mostly and then for sustenance i am drinking chicken broth. Today is day two post op, my surgery was Monday with a few complications. Hunger is not an issue for me the gas pain is, walking around is the best relief so far, gas x strips help a little. I just pray the worst part is over it feels like a cross between 1000 sit-ups and a broken rib. I just keep telling myself the worst part is over. The good news is I am swallowing real good, keeping fluids down well so that part pleases me.

Hang in there! Day two and three was the worst for me. I felt as if I had been run over by a truck. Keep walking, it does help and it does get better. I am 13 days post op, 12lbs down from surgery and feeling great. Wish you the best in your recovery. :)

Hey Folks...I finally had my band surgery. so far so good. The pain is tolerable...though I'm on Percocet. Worst part for me so far is a sore throat from being intubated. Gas pain isn't bad. I'm moving around quite well and I am keeping fluids down without any issues!
