Just wondering if there are any of you from Illinois going here. If so I would like to know how your surgery went and how you are doing. Good luck to all of us on our journeys!!!

Thats where I am' date=' I just had the psych consult, met with the dietician and np on the 5th. I have two insurances both bcbs, one of il and one of anthem. Has it been two weeks since u had the psych conosult? They told me it would be two weeks. I have only been there twice, but havent had any problems with the staff yet. well good luck and keep me posted.[/quote']

I had my visit 3 weeks ago tomorrow. I know the paperwork said to allow 2 to 3 weeks but I am impatient and want to get started on this new journey. I have several co workers who have had it done in the last few months and am inspired by one in particular. And it makes me more anxious to get started.

Has it worked for all of them so far?

are you by Macomb area?

Close...Im in Quincy.

Its nice the dr comes to carthage for fills once a month. Sucks to have to drive all that way just for a fill then turn around and come home. Granted I would stop off in Springfield for some shopping.

did you have any complications after you first got your band?

I grew up in Mendon, but live in Quincy now. Are they going to John Wood or QU? Both great schools!

I didnt have any complications at all after first having it. Actually I havent had any complications at all. The only time I did have a problem was when I was pregnant. I was having trouble with getting enough food in and too much throwing up. So I had to have some Fluid taken out.

My surgery was on a Thursday and I was out and about the following day. I had to have someone drive me, but was feeling great. Was back to work on Monday.

wow thats great! My son goes to jw and my daughter is attending Vatterot cosmetology school. I am really getting excited and hope all goes through with the insurance. Any suggesstions you might at this point with preparing since I dont have it actually scheduled yet?

Are you having to go through the supervised diet?

I had to do a 6 month supervised diet and all kind of stuff that was required by my ins. Dont get discouraged!! The staff is so great at helping make sure you get everything you need to get your ins approval.

When you do get to the 2 week preop diet, beware it is hard but it is only 2 weeks and you can do it. That first week is the hardest. I was always starving and just drinking Protein shakes while trying to feed my family. And my kids are young and they would complain about what I made for them. I know one day I went off because i was so grouchy from eating nothing and they started complaing about the food. I used their Protein Shakes. They are nice and thick.

has it worked for all of them?

One in particular is following the doctors advice. One doesn't seem to be. I think I am learning from both.

I live by Herrin Il. Its about 3 1/2 hours south of Decatur office, but I am having my surgery at Mt Vernon at Crossroads Hosp. I have only had to go to Decatur 1 time on June 1st for psych eval and see dietician, and physical. The 1st time I saw Dr was April 4th, thats when I started all this. It took them 2 months to get mine approved after june 1st appt. I have bcbs of TN, I had to do diet with my family Dr also, that I started on April 5th, and the Dr had to fax monthly diet report to ibc. I did weight watchers online and lost 39 lbs in 4 months. Day 6 of preop diet, I get 1 small meal a day, so its not to bad, I always look forward to that meal, even if its not much.
