Dont Know If I Can Make It.

im still months from out im sure havent even got to see a surgreon yet' date=' is this something i could do to start losing weight ? or to train my stomach/mind that this is it ?[/quote']

Marybell, What you could do while waiting for surgery is practice taking smaller bites of food, chewing it 20-30 times, putting fork down between bites.

Also try to increase your Water intake b/c after surgery you need to drink at least 64oz of Fluid per day. Check out some Protein drinks to find the one that suits you. Higher the Protein & lowest in sugar is the best.

Anyway, these are the things I've been doing to start to prepare. Old habits are hard to break, so I'm trying to break a few pre-op.

I am on day 8 and it definatly gets better, by about day 4. Drink them super cold with lots of ice, add some flavors, coffee etc. It does get easier.........keep it up.

For the first week I have not been around people eating, I live alone and have my shake in my office, so it has been easier then those who live and cook with others. Yesterday my mother was visiting and she was quite prepared to leave the house for her dinner. That is crazy talk, so she threw a pizza in the oven. I was fine until she made the comment 'this is the best pizza ever'........I looked at her like she had 3 heads and then she realized what she said and apologized, when she went for her seconds, she made the same comment. I finally lost it on her when she nagged me to get my 4th shake in or else I will be up snacking in the middle of the night (I have NEVER snacked in the middle of the night). I lost it, she is my biggest supporter and my biggest critic, and dropped the 'f' bomb when I was reiterating that I was only having 4 f'ing shakes a day and I haven't cheated, and would appreciate it if she gave me the benifit of the doubt and not accuse me of cheating on day 7 of this lifelong journey. She back peddled and said she was just joking............anyway, maybe I should just continue to be alone for the next 7 before I rip someones eyeballs out.

By the way, I still would love to lick a hamburger right about now.

This liquid diet is killing me I'm freaking starving. I have to do it for 2 weeks just muscle milk and Water. I started it the 4th and have surgery the 19th. 10 more days of starving I don't think I can do it.

gonna be tough, as my hub as to me on my 14 day pre op all liquid.... if you want this surgery, you will do what you have to do. sure your hungry. but this is to get your body/liver ready for surgery. dont quit now. and def dont cheat as you would only be (cheating yourself). as the days go by, it gets easier. and again, get rid of the i dont think i can do it. because if you want to, you can.

all the best

The 2 week liquid is hard... But I learned some valuable lessons during that time...

1) I can live without food. I just need nutrition. I learned that food is fuel...nothing more

2)eating is a habit...not eating for 2 weeks will break you of the habit so when you get on the other side everything is new again

3)you can feel amazing after no fatty foods.... No heartburn, no reflux, no funky stools... It's amazingly cleansing

4) the 3 weeks of liquid post op were a breeze after 2 weeks of 5 Optifast Protein Shakes each day!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
