I'm Home and Banded!!! *Special Message for my March and April Bandsters*

Hey gang, Well I'm finally home. Didn't leave the hospital until about 4pm, then sat in traffic for quite a while. Needless to say on Tuesday morning I was a bit nervous, but not much. I really love my surgeon and have complete trust in him and God to get me to the other side safely. I arrived at the hospital and checked it. They took me back, where they set me all up....placed the IV and gave me a shot in the belly (blood thinner), and ran some antibiotics. The nurses were so friendly and funny, so this made it a very relaxing environment. Usually the pre-op staff are great, because they know folks are a little nervous etc. I met with the anestesiologist (sp?) (I'm on morphine right now..cut me a break) He explains everything to me and really made me feel comfortable. When they were ready to take me back he gave me something ...happy juice. I barely remember being taken into the OR. I remember seeing all the people in the OR and then I was out!! The next thing I know one of the girls in the OR is telling me to wake up. I felt NO PAIN...I opened my eyes and it was a bit blurry at first, but I saw my surgeon and gave him a thumbs up. I remember it was hard to speak at first. It didn't hurt, just nothing would really come out. I didn't have any troouble waking up..Even my recovery nurse was amazed at how awake I was. Again NO PAIN. I woke up with my morphine and it was all good. Honestly, I was really surprised as to how easy this surgery was. And I have not experienced any pain at all, some soreness that I would compare to doing 100 sit-ups the day before. From the time I was taken to my room (about 2:00pm) I was walking the halls with no problem at all. I walked at least 15 min. at a time 3-4 times a day. I even met a cutie in the hall while I was walking. He too had an operation (back surgery)
look at me flirting and feeling fiesty already
I thought I would be brave and didn't use any morphine until about noon. And still NO PAIN just soreness. I started hitting it again because I started to feel a little neck and shoulder pain I've heard people mention. I didn't want it to be bad so I used the morphine for that. So hear I am at home feeling quite fine. I want to thank you guys again for all the support. This being my first operation ever..you support was so important to me. I hope this helps some of the anxiety my other March and April bandsters may be having. I know everybody handles things differently, BUT FOR ME THIS WAS CAKE!!! Trust me...whatever you imagin it to be like...the reality will be 5X easier than that. Now back to sleep

Cristina

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
