Lapband Revison To Sleeve

Recommended Posts

Holy cow you have WAY too much time on your hands!!!!!!

Ain't that the truth! And I should be using my post-op down time to write the Great American Novel instead of playing on the internet. Oh, for the good ol' days, when I had to write by candlelight using my own blood for ink and the back of the Emancipation Proclamation for paper.

Not.

Hello everyone...

I was jus surfing the web & I am SO GLAD I came across this discussion! I was "banded" on December 17, 2008...as of January of this year...I had lost a total of 125 pounds! Well needless to say I started having issues & as of next week on the 6th of September..I am having the band removed & getting the gastric sleeve all at the same time!

I too was upset & disturbed when my doctor first said he was going to have to adjust my band & take all the Fluid out...I was already not feeling any restriction so I knew I REALLY wasn't going to once he did this & I would start to gain even more weight than what I had already started doing. I understand that my "overall" health is what comes first as far as getting the complications taken care of...but I let it be known to my doctor that BY NO MEANS was I going to gain all that weight back...not even close to it. So I told him I was giving him 30 to 45 days to fix what was wrong...then I wanted the band fixed & refilled or the sleeve...which it took me some time to get use to the idea of the sleeve. Well I've done my research...had my classes & had my pre op testing done today & I am SO READY to move on to the next step! I've gained 40 pounds since March & that is soooooooooooo unacceptable! I will say the band really worked for me until it didn't!! I will always be grateful for that & have learned & received life long lessons from it.

My band slipped and I was throwing up everything I ate. I had reflux so bad I slept with a towel under my head. The doctor took all the Fluid out of my band and I had instant relief. Now tests show band has slipped and we are on to next phase of handling problem. I decided to have sleeve done. Doctor is now trying to get insurance approval. The surgery will remove the band and do the sleeve. I can not wait, I am so excited to get on with the weight lose. Thanks everyone, you have said some things that are good to think about.

I had my band done in July 2010. started out at 277 got as low as 224. Now my band also slipped causing me to throw everything up and really severe heart burn. needless to say I gained some of the weight back. Im now 245. My doctor recommended I get the sleeve. Im not going to lie...the thought of having 2/3 of my stomach removed scares the crap out of me but I cant risk gaining all that weight back. I cant go back!! Im now waiting for ins approval once all goes well Ill be having the sleeve on oct 25th.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
