Gas Pain Or Not????

Recommended Posts

I have an appt Thurs with my surgeon for my next fill, I'm 9 wks post op and every time I eat about 10 mins later I hurt right in the middle of my chest, not a stuck episode, believe me, I've had experiences with that, 4 to be exact. This is an aching feeling like gas feeling or pressure almost like I need to burp but can't. Today, I decided to experiment, I took a gas-x after each meal and it subsided but tonight the pain was awful, oh and I get nauseous. Sometimes I eventually burp or it does develop into gas or the pain subsides after a couple of hrs. After my last stuck episode I am careful and chew really well and eat slow. I'm not sliming, PB'ing, just the pain. Is this normal?

I wonder... is it the amount you are eating? how much each meal are you having? Some people dont have obvious signs when they have had enough... do you notice, at any point, a difference in how you feel when you are eating your meal? could you try cutting back on your portion and see how you go?

Could be Gall Bladder... ask your Dr. That is exactly what happened to me. If you don't have a gall bladder then it probably is gas. But check out the Gall Bladder when you start losing weight lots of folks need gall bladder surgery Hope this helps.

I would say it is a sign that you have eaten too much.

I'm not sure, I guess I could cut back but then I would get hungry more often. I'm glad I'm getting a fill this week. Guess it could be the portion size. I will keep this in mind. thx.

I do have gallstones present and have had probs with it before surgery. So this could be the problem...

My surgeon is aware of it and he said my gallbladder may have to come out at some point but wanted to wait till I healed completely. thanks for letting me know about you. Something to think about.

I eat about 3/4 cup of food right now and I have 4.5cc's in my band. I currently get hungry about every 4 hrs, I mean hunger pains, stomach growling, the whole nine yards. I do try and recognize to stop and then after about 15 mins I'm satisfied. In the mornings I have to usually, drink a Protein shake because I can't tolerate anything, too nauseous. I will try and cut down on portion size, thanks all for your suggestions. I love this site.

some people have smaller meals and four meals a day. If this continues perhaps you could look at doing that?

i do feel for you. My experience with burping as been..... the problem was there immediately post op with me. Ive had ongoing episodes with it. Mainly now when im eating. Ive learned to just stretch my arms back over the head and put my hands on my head to expand my chest a bit and it usually works well. sometimes in the middle of a meal it happens and then i know i havent been eating properly. Usually its a sign for me that i need to slow down.

thank you, I will make a note of this and try it.

it will help you a lot. the last comment i made i intended to write more but was interrupted. lol. It seems to me that lifting the arms like that opens up the ribcage enough to help the trapped air come back up. Ive never had so many issues with burping before surgery. it wasnt a problem at all. For some reason it seems to come with the surgery and im not sure why it happens. i just know that now its an issue that i contend with nearly every day . You will get practised at raising your arms to help get rid of the air... lol... i just hope i never have to do it in a restaurant.. lol. I dont have to do it when i eat slowly and wait between mouthfuls. its when i eat too quickly and im distracted that the air seems to get trapped and then i have to get it back up again. i hope this has helped you a bit.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
