If you can get through the first week, the rest of recovery is a breeze. I personally didn't have any issues after I was home from the hospital, but everyone is different.

I hope things get better for you, and soon!

Do your best to stay properly hydrated...nausea is a sign of severe dehydration which I did not recognize for what it was. I ended up in the hospital because of it shortly after I was banded.

Hope you feel better fast...every day should be better.

I thought the same thing and was feeling pretty good about day 7 to day 8. I took my Zofran around the clock as I was nauseated too but mine was due to me being constipated from the pain meds and not going for a week. Once I went my nausea eased. I'm 7 wks post op now and have lots of energy and it's the best decision I've ever made. I'm down 28 lbs total including pre-op diet loss and I have 4.5cc's in my band now. I do however struggle with bouts of nausea but my surgeon thinks it's my gallbladder as I have stones and he wants to wait to take it out till I heal completely. Hope you feel better soon. It is hard but so much worth it, hang in there.

I was extremely nauseous afterwards as well and even vomited on day 2. Day 4 was when I started feeling better. I took zofran but it did little for me. Due to not getting up and moving around enough I ended up with a clot in my leg so definitely make sure you move and walk.

Hey...Yeah, the first week is a bummer. Don't worry though it gets a lot better! I remember my first week. I am only 2 months since I had my lapband surgery. I've already lost 62 pounds! I drank liquid only for the first week and it really didn't bother me too much because I was in the same position you are in. I was feeling sick, burping (or trying to burp because ever since the surgery I really can't burp), and I just felt so weak and awful. I'm telling you, the more you get up and move around, the easier it gets!

Just remember we are all different and some people can make it through nice and easy. This is your journey, so stay positive! I promise you that I felt the same way about it being worse than I thought it would, but the second I started getting positive things started getting a lot better. Watch some TV, relax, walk around as much as possible, and look forward to watching the weight drop off of you!

Good luck with everything.

Walking around will help with the gas a nausea and sip your liquids slowly. Everyone is different and some take longer to heal than others. My mom was down about 2 weeks before she felt good and I was up and painting the porch railing the day after surgery. So hang in there it will get better, just drink your liquids, move as much as you can tolerate and keep up with pain meds if needed.

See if your doctor can give you something else for the nausea... My surgeon gave me a patch, pills, and a Bracelet thing that I wore for the first 4 days. I only got nauseated a couple of times due to all the stuff they gave me.

Make sure you are drinking. Also, drink sloooowly. My doctor said that stuck burp feeling was because I was taking too big of a sip and then drinking again too soon after the last sip. Once I adjusted my drinking, I don't get the stuck burp feeling anymore.

This is very true. I fainted a week after surgery due to dehydration. The first week is rough. I used a heating pad and walked a lot.

Thank you all so much for the information it's been a great help and very comforting I had a good 15 minutes today total. Nausea has subsided quite a bit but that's because I'm no longer constipated I am now having really bad diarrhea I guess that's normal for everything my body is going through . Thank you again

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
