Going To Have My Procedure Tomorrow!

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

As I write this I'm about 10 hours away from my surgery. After being overweight for most of my adult life, dealing with acid reflux, sleep apnea, and all the other things I decided to get the band. Had a lot of trouble with insurance which delayed my over 6 months, but the time is finally here! I'm excited and nervous at the same time. I just found this board today, and am enjoying the stories, and hope to share my own success story, and chatting with you all! :)

I'll be back tomorrow!

Evan

Good luck! Try to get some sleep tonight :) Don't forget to bring a small travel pillow with you to hold against your stomach for walking and getting in/out of the car.

I did end up staying up on the Lapband site and watching a movie with my honey until about 2am. I had to turn around and wake up at 4:30 to be at the hospital by 5:30. Just try to veg out and not think of all the crazy scenarios that could happen :)

Hi again! Back now from my surgery, and finally able to get a moment. So far I am doing better than I thought I would. I'm usually a big pain sissy, but I've been happy so far with how not "worst case senario" I am. My wife and kids are impressed as well. I'm quite happy with the whole procedure (which I had done in Las Vegas with Dr. Atkinson and Desert Springs Hospital). I've never had any kind of surgury before so going in on the cart and looking up at the lights was being on a TV hospital show.kinda weird.

I was out and walking only a few hours after that, and have been doing a lot of house pacing as my body allows. I've also started doing laps up and down the cul-de-sac we live in with other family members. I've had the surgery, but we've all commited to get healthier from this point on.

I've just never noticed how many ads on TV are food related, and just how big food is everyday. My family feels guilty for eating around me, to which I raise my chicken broth and tell them to enjoy. :)

According to the scale I've already lost weight, but I'm sure it's just Water weight, and as soon as I can be back on a semi-normal hydration schedule.

Thanks again to all, and I hope to continue to share my journey with you all.

Best wishes on your recovery and Congratulations. I pre-register at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital on Aug 3 and my band date is Aug 6. I've lost 31 pounds getting ready for this day and hope to lose 2-3 pounds by weigh-in on Aug 3.

Keep us posted on your recovery.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
