A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?

We need a place where we can support each other through our "more than most" journey. Just as turtles don't get much out of hearing us talking about fast we're losing, maybe it would give us a nice break from "I'm getting banded because I need to lose 60 lbs".

I think we have our own unique challenges, expectations, baggage, etc. -- and we need our own little niche to support eachother. We all have a very long journey ahead of us, and need to band together. :)

  • There's nothing like having a goal weight that's most people's starting weight! I know that all too well!

The only restriction you'll have until your first fill will be from swelling.
That's actually not my case. The band the doctor used for me had an inner diameter smaller than the outer diameter of where it was placed, so just by virtue of the band being there I have some restriction (Dr. estimates about 20% - 25%, e.g. about 1cc in a 4cc band).

Teresa you should be so excited! I know that each time I get to a new century, it's absolutely indescribable! Eh... not that I've lost hundreds of pounds (at the sametime), but let me say -- each of the many times I've gone from 300 to 299. :D

I am on such a tear to be 299 by the time my surgery happens. I am using fitday.com, and working out everyday (hour of tae bo and hour of pilates). I am gonna do this!! Dammit! LOL I am also keeping my diet to around 1200 a day. I have eaten so much healthy stuff i feel like i am going to sprout roots and grow a tree out of my ear.

I want to do better with my eating. I want to fix squash....no I want someone else to fix hot veggies for me everyday. I have been eating salad almost everyday.

I miss my veggies. I used to eat salad every day - I haven't dared to try it yet. I love veggie kabobs on the grill.

I need to get better about my Vitamins & Calcium chewables. The calcium isn't so bad since I'm using milk for my Protein drinks, but I always forget my darn Multivitamin, even though I have a bottle at work & at home.

I've lost another 9 lbs since Friday. Woo! I needed that! My scale hadn't budged in over 2 weeks!

I also need to get better about eating more, as weird as that may sound. I'm still eating around 600 cals/day.

Great to read how well everyone is doing losing weight!

21.5 pounds gone since I began the pre-diet 25 days ago (surgery was 3/24). It has slowed slightly -- only 2 pounds since my first weigh-in at the surgeon's this past Monday. I'm obsessed with the scale, watch it go up and down all day. Still sleeping more than usual and very tired at the end of the work day, thank goodness I telecommute!

The surgeon was pleased with my results and I'm pleased too! Next appointment is in a month, no mention of first fill. I'm now a convert to aloe vera juice (Wild berry flavor). Upper torso still a little sore almost 3 wks post-op. Tried canned salmon again tonight, sat like the golf ball. I find grits warm and easy to slide down, but need to diversify the menu.

Passed the 2/3 point!!! ONly 1/3 of my goal left to lose...

And only 20 more lbs until I am Overweight!! Goodbye obesity!!!!!

Now, my 42 pants are falling off. Last night I tries on 40s... OK, but I could get on 38s!!!!!!

I haven't worn pants in the 30's in over 15 years!

Good times!!

397/397/200

Banded July 2005 with a starting BMI of 48.9, weight of 286 lbs

Weight loss so far is 93 lbs, my goal weight is 140 or below, so still another 40+ lbs to go .

Finally got a scale that goes up to 360. got on it last week and cried. i thought i was lower than 360-something. today i am 355. and going down. i am going to reach 299 before surgery!! or die tryin lol

Good for you Funny

I know you can do it!

My scale still reads error, and I won't be driving all the way to my surgeons office just to weigh in. An hour drive and $15 in gas just isn't worth it. So until my scale reads an actual weight my ticker will remain stationary. I am kicking it up though, gonna start a little exersise this week and gonna make sure i get at least 500 calories. I think I may be in starvation mode. Here we go :)
