Side Effects From Liquid Diet? On Day 4 Now!

Hey all, I am a newbie to posting..... but I am on day 4 of my Pre-op Liquid Diet. Being banded on Aug 1st.

Day one the shakes tasted terrible and so I just chugged them. I am supposed to have 6 and I had to force down a 5th one by 9pm that night.

The next morning I was down almost 10lbs.

The second day was a little easier. The third day (yesterday) was hard, probably because I am pms'ing also. So my nerves are shot!

But the 2nd day I started having loose stool, and it hasn't stopped.

HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS?? I feel so tired and weak, and have waves of nausea.

Thanks everyone!

diarrhea. hell yes. I had a one week liquid diet (3 shakes a day and that was it!). I was a complete moody b!tch, ran to the bathroom every 5 seconds....but you know what? Once I got that band in me, I forgot all about it. You might ask the doc about some chewable fiber pills - it might help, but be careful because you don't want the opposite problem. Also, just as a side note, make SURE to get stool softeners from the drug store for post op. The liquid pain meds were so constipating even though I only used them for two days. You'll thank me. I also was glad to have Biotene mouth spray (found with toothpaste and mouthwash) post op. Lots of issues with dry mouth and that stuff was great. Very gentle mint flavor, not overpowering. Best of luck :)

Justathing2me' date=' how does the Optifast compare in taste to say slimfast? Optifast is what my doctor will have me on and I'm concerned about how it will taste.[/quote']

I'm a big fan of the strawberry personally. I have been on the Optifast for 3 days now and my surgery is scheduled for Aug 3

I found that if I don't drink fluids in between shakes then I feel really bad and I feel much better with plenty of water in between shakes. My doc said it was fine for me to also drink non caloric drinks which keeps me from being sick of water.

My drinks are pre made in little boxes. I just shake them a lot then drink it pretty quick. I did try to freeze some today, I will check later to see if it helps. My mother in law bought me a snow cone maker to see if that helps me also..... maybe changing the texture will help.

I do try to eat a Jello or drink some broth or crystal light after my shake, to get the taste out. Tonight I kind of got full on the liquids.

Of course I have only had 4 today, still have 2 more I am Supposed to drink. But I really don't feel hungry for it. I am worried about not getting calories and not losing weight.

I am on day 7 pre-op and today was the first day of diaherra.. Horrible and embarassing!! Smh.. I am on bariatric advantage protein shakes 3x a day and 2 bariatric advantage bars a day.. I have 7 more days of this and I swear I have put myself on time out for the past 3 days in a row... Lol I slipped in a cup of broth and that might have caused my problem today.. Ugh but I wanted just another taste in my mouth other than strawberry !!! Lol come on July 30th!! I am sooooo ready!!

I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one making frequent trips to the rest room. The things they don't tell you....
