  1. I am down 40 and I get people saying "Wow I can really tell in your face!" I kind of get tired of that, but oh well.
  2. I wasn't hungry at all, in fact I wouldn't drink anything either. I was having problems with my pain meds too. If you are hungry try some instant breakfast or something.
  3. I was banded Aug 1st and I am too afraid to have any real sweets. I did have some yogurt from Orange Leaf, small portion, and did great with it. Just made sure it worked into my daily calorie allowance. I was tempted to have a small taste of a brownie at church Sunday, but was afraid of throwing up. My sister had gastric and would get sick when she ate sweets.
  4. My doctor pushed so hard to feel mine 2 weeks ago it hurt for 4 days after that. Today he felt it and I could feel it, it is the side of my big incision. I feel it when I roll on that side in bed too! It freaks me out sometimes, but I would love to have it "stick out" as I lose weight!
  5. I think we did after about 10 days, he was ready, but I wasn't interested. I was banded on Aug 1, and I noticed this past Sunday that my port area was hurting during, I just put my hand on the area to help. LOL.
  6. About 2 weeks ago that happened to me and after talking with my dietician we figured out I wasn't eating enough. So as I have increased my calories I have started losing again! Talk to your dietician! They really can help! Good Luck!
  7. I felt incredibly uncomfortable after surgery. They even did an upper gi to check my band on day 5 because I was hurting so much. We figured out it was swelling, day 9 I started feeling amazing and have been feeling better since then! I was told to relax and let my body heal! Good Luck!
  8. I was banded 8/1 and barely drank anything for the first 7 days. I had this hurtful burning sensation when I swallowed. I did see the Sugeon day 5 because I was worried about all my dry heaving, maybe I hurt the band or something. So he ordered an Upper GI and everything looked great. It was the swelling that I had to wait for. From days 3-8 I had sips of Instant Breakfast, Jello, Water, broth from chicken noodle Soup. The night of day 8 I had a few bites of a scrambled egg, my husband threatened me, LOL. Day 9 I felt like a new person, had a little bit of cheese and mushroom omlette! I over did it that day shoppping though and was worn out. But since then I am finding that I can eat soft foods and just chew a lot. I can drink so much easier too! For the first time Im kind of like excited after surgery! Hang in there!!! The first few days are the hardest!
  9. I had my surgery on a Wednesday, and there was no way I could have sat at a desk that next Monday. It was day 10 until I started feeling better. I think swelling? Today I feel great, Wednesday will be 2 weeks.
  10. Well surgery went great per the surgeon. I am having a hard time with recovery. side effects from pain killers aren't helping much. My biggest incision hurts, and my right shoulder, I kept having dry heaves but they got me something for that, and I was able to stop the dry heaves for now. Every time I drink water I feel burning, like it gets stuck. So I am just praying asking the Lord to help me!! Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day. No parties for me!
  11. Thank you all for your words of encouragement. I really needed it tonight. I have 5 1/2 yr old twin boys, we are very close so it is hard on me every time I leave them. So of course I kept that big smile and as soon as I was out of sight I broke down. I think the whole thing has just been building up for so long, I have been working on this since 2008. So it is hard to believe it is actually here. Im a little scared, anxious, excited and anything else you could imagine. In perfect peace he'll keep me........ God Bless all, hopefully I will feel up to it to check in tomorrow night! Thanks again! Tiff
  12. Surgery is tomorrow. My boys are spending the night with my parents tonight since we leave so early in the morning. My husband has taken off the rest of the week to be my nurse just in case. Should I be able to take care of my boys or what should I expect? I hope I feel good enough for 2 parties on Saturday and church on Sunday.
  13. Congrats! I am set for Wed Aug 1 for my surgery. On day 11 of my liquid diet. It isn't the easiest thing in the world, but completely doable. I was telling my husband I couldn't believe it was already day 11. I have lost 17 just on the liquid diet. Good Luck!
  14. I can kind of understand that. The things I crave are not chocolates and sweets. I have been craving a peach, cottage cheese, string cheese, carrots, grapes, chicken........ cant wait for my mushy food stage!
  15. Whoa talk about an emotional roller coaster!! Am I alone with these MOOD SWINGS?? One minute I think so positive and feel like this is going to be easeir than I thought. Next minute Im ready to crawl into bed and just cry, feeling tired and kind of sick to my stomach. My muscles have been sore today also, I haven't done anything weird and I have had a lot of water. Only 4 more days!
  16. I agree with the above posts. I am on day 10 of my liquid diet an it has been kind of a roller coaster. I have twin 5 1/2 yr old twin boys and so I have to remember to feed them and my husband. I find my self having a hard time drinking all my shakes because they don't taste the best. I have been loving my SF Jello and SF Popsicles. I found an off brand at Wal Mart that has banana and coconut flavored sf popsicles. They were good! I am proud to say I have not "cheated" at all, I have found I am stronger than I thought I was! Good Luck to you!
  17. Oooh I like that one. "Im trying something new that seems to be working well for me."
  18. I have been trying to do this since 2008, problems with insurance companies then money, but I think my whole family knows. They are all supportive and it is nice to have them praying for me. Lord knows I need it during this liquid diet. I only have a few close friends, my sister had gastric in Nov of 2011 and is down 100lbs. she is very supportive and we can help each other. I don't care for comments from my mother in law like "You are going to be HOT!" Im like thanks, so Im ugly now, LOL!
  19. So today is day 5 of my liquid pre op diet and yesterday we we at the lake, my bother in law brought his girlfriend and I just don't feel like she is my friend and someone I want to talk to about it. So I tried to kind of keep it on the down low. How do any of you handle these situations? I am not really embarrassed, I just don't want their comments or advice. I have struggled with my weight my whole life, and after every failed diet, I finally have the chance to have this paid for.
  20. My drinks are pre made in little boxes. I just shake them a lot then drink it pretty quick. I did try to freeze some today, I will check later to see if it helps. My mother in law bought me a snow cone maker to see if that helps me also..... maybe changing the texture will help. I do try to eat a Jello or drink some broth or crystal light after my shake, to get the taste out. Tonight I kind of got full on the liquids. Of course I have only had 4 today, still have 2 more I am Supposed to drink. But I really don't feel hungry for it. I am worried about not getting calories and not losing weight.
  21. Will the pain just go away? Or will they have to do something?
  22. My doctor and dietician said I can't do any other liquids, that it has to be the Optifast from the pharmacy in their building. So I will tough it out. Post Op I am on only sips of water the day of, then the next day water and sips of protein drinks. Then starting the 3rd day to about 2 weeks I have a restricted liquid diet, but can have Carnation Instant Breakfast drinks and pudding. So it could always be worse. I am just thankful to finally be doing this, I have been trying to get this surgery since 2008.
  23. Thank you all for your replies. I will try the supplements. My doctor has me on 6 Optifast 800 shakes a day. sugar free Jello-O, Sugar Free Popsicles and chicken broth. I am having trouble drinking all 6! My dietician asked me to at least get 5 in. They just taste so terrible. I don't like vanilla or strawberry drinks, so I did chocolate. Just sucks. I only like Jello Brand Strawberry, and I don't like broth so we strain and Water down chicken noodle Soup. This afternoon we went out on the lake and so I slammed my crystal light as I watch everyone eat Cookies, chips and drinking cokes. I just thought "Fattys" to all of them! I have only had 3 today, Im trying to get a 4th one in right now. They just taste so bad, I would rather starve. But I know we need the caloric intake so Im trying. But I am about to break down in tears from frustration. Why does my doctor require a 2 week liquid diet and some only 1 week??
  24. Hey all, I am a newbie to posting..... but I am on day 4 of my Pre-op Liquid Diet. Being banded on Aug 1st. Day one the shakes tasted terrible and so I just chugged them. I am supposed to have 6 and I had to force down a 5th one by 9pm that night. The next morning I was down almost 10lbs. The second day was a little easier. The third day (yesterday) was hard, probably because I am pms'ing also. So my nerves are shot! But the 2nd day I started having loose stool, and it hasn't stopped. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS?? I feel so tired and weak, and have waves of nausea. Thanks everyone!
