Observation....

Recommended Posts

Isn't it amazing, that people who tell you that you have lost enough or you are loosing too much weight, are over weight themselves??

A normal or skinny person will compliment you on how you look every time.

just realized this little tidbit....

I think your observation is spot on 98% of the time.

However, a couple of years ago I had a good friend that lost weight, and lost a little too much, and she literally looked like she had been sick. She quit losing and put about five pounds back on and looked much better.

Being a woman of a "certain age" I fully expect to look a little older when the fat is not filling out the wrinkles, but I just don't want to look sickly!

Don't know if I necessarily agree. My middle sister who is average to slightly above average weight; had lost a lot of weight. In my opinion too much weight but being overweight myself would never in a million years have told her that. Our older sister who's always been normal weight how ever felt no compunctions about telling her that she has lost too much weight. My thought was it was not a sustainable weight for her. And I was right.

I think that a lot of times that people tell us we have lost too much weight because they are so used to seeing us fat, when we reach a good weight they think we look to thin.

Say my normal weight if I had never gotten fat would have been 110 (This is just an example to show a point). If everyone was used to seeing me at 110, they would think I was just petite.

But if I had been 300 lbs and lost my weight and became 110 people would think I lost too much weight. Even though that might have always been the right weight for me.

I hope you are able to follow my example.

This is what I think happens.

I agree it is because people are used to seeing us fat. But I did get sick of one of my husband's cousin's telling me that I had lost too much weight and needed to stop. I tried explaining that my BMI meant I was still obese, not overweight, but obese. She persisted until I told her that I would stop losing weight when I was as slim as her. She is tall and a weight that looks healthy (I don't know how much she weighs so can't be sure). But she suddenly stopped harassing me!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
