You should call your doctor's office about this. They can help you, I'm sure. Are you drinking enough liquids? Would you be allowed to have prune juice? May if you diluted it with Water.< /p>

Prune juice is a great natural way of moving things along, or Miralax or something like that .. check with doctors office to see what they recommend.

I had surgery on Mon 2 Jul and its was 8 days before a BM. Even when it happened, it was rather uneventful!

I've been on liquids only since surgery and despite adding some Benefibre to Protein shakes, juice and Soup, i still had no luck.

I spoke to the surgeon at day 7, as well as a mum who is nurse, and both noted with such little fibre in the diet it was going to be difficult. Both recommended keeping up the Water and walking which can help bowel movements. Fortunately i didnt have any specific pain from it (although still uncomfortable post surgery, it was hard to pinpoint if that was the problem).

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
