Feeling Frustrated...need Advice!!!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone...I was banded on April 16th. I have lost 25 pounds since then...which I am thrilled about. I have had 2 fills and I am having my third one on July 26th. To be honest the scale has moved VERY slowly in the past month. I have been eating my 1200 calories a day and tons of Protein etc. and I have been exercising at least 5 times a week. Is the weight loss going to get off quicker after the next fill? My band is 10 cc and I am at 4 cc...not feeling that much restriction. Should I move up my appointment or just wait it out? Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks!!

You are doing great. I can you tell you that I have only 4cc in my band and have not had a fill since 2010. Once I put it in my mind it was a tool. I have worked this tool and I had to make some other adjustments to get energy and work on speeding up my metabolism and that has helped me take more control than depending on the fills. You are on target it seems like a slow process, but check your inches. I know you have lost a lot of inches. Did you do measurements on everything before surgery? If not do them now. Some time scale is a little stuck but you are shedding away those inches. You can email me any time at vblack433@ymail.com and I can share some of the things that have helped get through this process. Did you see my video? Send me your email address and I will forward you my video.

My band holds 11cc. I have 5cc in it now. I got my fill during surgery (it was my 3rd surgery for lapband) so I've never had to go in to the office for a fill. I can tell you that 5cc does nothing for me. I can eat anything, and I do! I feel full for maybe 30 mins. I need to call the office to find out when I can get another fill. My last surgery was on June 19th so I haven't had a fill for very long. I haven't completely healed from the surgery and I don't think the office will fill me without being healed. It is so frustrating what all I've been through and have only lost 22 lbs since January. If I were you, I would call to see if you could get in earlier for another fill if that is what you feel like you need to do. Doesn't hurt to ask! Worst thing they can say is you will have to wait till July 26th!

I would wait until the 26th for your fill, only because bands are so finicky. Some people vary greatly on their restriction from day to day or even week to week. It's always better safe than sorry.

Congratulations on the weight loss and having such a good diet and exercise plan in place. You're doing great :)

I think you are doing great! I was banded in Nov 2011 and have lost 42lbs, exercise 6 times a week (boot camp and run 16 miles). Keep in mind this is a journey and not a quick solution. I lost weight on Optifast very quickly and gained it back very quickly, so I need to keep reminding myself this is a permanent solution. My body finally kicked in on weight loss about month 4, so give yourself some time.

I read on lapband website that maximal weight loss happens between month 15 to year 3...maybe this will inspire our slower weight loss. Make sure you are getting plenty of Protein.< /p>

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
