I Got My Band 8Months Ago And I Have Only Lost 40Lbs.

Recommended Posts

I exercise 3 to 4 times a week and my portion size is 1/3 of what it used to be . I also watch what I eat. Am I doing something wrong? Anyone got any advice?

40 lbs is awesome. You're normal. Most of us lose 2-8 lbs a month. So you lose 5 lbs. You're better than normal.

Remember any weight lost is better then weight gained.

Im down right aroud 150lbs but its takin me over 4 years to get here so if you average that out ive lost around 35 pounds a yr which is less then id like but by far better then gaining 35 a yr.

Maria, I lost 12 lbs my first 2 weeks and then nada for the next 3.5 months. You won't see a significant weight/fat loss till you find restriction.

Hurray! That is 40 lbs less than you were 8 months ago. That is awesome. You are doing agood job and really should be proud. Don't let the folks who say they lost 100 in a year intimidate you. Everyone is differnt. Maybe you have less overall to loose. Be proud of your 40 lbs. Best wishes to future losses. Karen

The others are right, 40 gone is 40 gone. Don't feel down, it is different for us all and it's hard not to want the weight to just get the crap off and stay off. I was a quick drop without much work. Now here I am three years out and I'm not only not where I thought I would be, but I'm going backwards. Slow and easy is the best for us, it helps with the extra skin. As long as you are following the rules, not drinking when you eat, things should be fine. Also, some docs put some saline in at surgery (mine did) and that helps to get things going faster. Remember, 1/3 of what you did eat might still be more than you should have now. Keep working you are on the right track.

It sounds like you are right on track. The band doesn't guarantee fast weight loss. You are losing at a safe, healthy rate. Keep up the good work and keep living a healthy lifestyle. It will pay off.

Best of luck!

I think that sounds like an average amount to loose. I was just banded 3days ago but my dr told me not to set unrealistic expectations for myself that a good but still going to be difficult goal would be 65lbs in 1yr....

It has taken me 3 years to lose 112lbs and I still want to lose another 20 or so. That's to have a super hot body, lol, since I'm already at a normal weight. Slow weight loss is good - it allows time for your skin to shrink down. There's nothing wrong with the amount of weight you've lost in the time you've lost it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
