Having Hard Time Losing

Recommended Posts

I missed some of your other comments so maybe a fill isn't necessary. That's why a visit with a good nutritionist who understands the lapband would really help you with your food choices. Listen to your band and try to give it foods that fill but don't stick.

I know our bands seem to have a mind of their own sometimes but stay away from the slider foods and empty sugar calories.

I have to post this. I read this earlier from another forum member. Pink Dahlia posted this: "I'm so stinkin' thrilled with my weight loss i dont even care about what i cant eat!"

I thought this comment was so me and it would be great if all bandsters could find this zone.

tmf

I hope I to can love that quote someday soon

It reads like you are doing most of the correct things...I have encountered the same issues.

Exercise is the only thing which helps me at this point, and I manage my hunger with drinking Water. I had to wait 14 weeks for my first fill due to complications, and hunger was with me constantly. I usually have 80 -90 oz of Water a day.

Try to make it difficult, if not impossible for you to get the foods you know you should not be having. This surgery requires us to develop a healthier relationship with food, and food is not your friend. Beating yourself up with guilt feelings is not going to help you get through this impasse.

Good luck...

Sometimes its not just about calorie intake its about how those calories are made up, i dont think u mentioned exercise and it may well be u are one of those people that has to exercise to lose weight, some manage without exercising some dont, if u dont lose weight u have to change something, and yes maybe this may feel like being on a diet, but once u hit your goal weight u can start to introduce a few of the foods that u like and in much smaller portions, there is no miracle WLS that will allow u to just eat what u want and lose all the weight u need to .. the right input from you is crucial to making the band work, i can now enjoy a few of the foods that i used to love because i am maintaining, you have had how many years eating what u want, a year or 2 having to forgo somefoods and making healthy choices isnt that bad in the grand scheme of things :)

small changes can help you so try lowing carbs, or increasing Water, or dont eat sugar etc etc and pick up the exercise more hopefully this will kick u into gear. I could only eat 1000 calories a day to lose weight 1200 and my scales wouldnt move !

Good luck !

Hi Smalltown - so very glad you started this thread. I was banded in January and am in the same boat. I haven't lost much - averaging less than 1 lb. per week. I called my doctor, who is very agressive with fills, and went in to day for another fill (my 4th). I have 10cc in an 11cc band. Yes - that is correct. I am so disappointed that I am on the below average side of losing weight. I know that exercise is required for me to lose apparently. I stay so busy, but that doesn't count as exercise. I asked for my doctors help. He wants me to log every thing I put in my mouth and send him the log every 2 weeks. I am hoping that this final fill along with extra accountability and forcing exercise will finally be what I need to be successful. I could use some prayers too! Good luck to everyone.

My dr doesn't want me to get feels but every 6 weeks should I insist on one sooner and does it sound like I need more even though I have trouble eating things now

I had trouble eating good healthy food when I was too tight. I found myself turning to sliders just to get something in my belly. I gave it time, my least fill has loosed up a tad and its perfect. I've got back to losing consistently again now that eating healthy is not such a pain. I still can't do carbs very well and couldn't even physically bite into a burger, but my Protein and veggies go down fine and in small amounts. It took me about 7months to get here and I'm happy in my green zone. :)

There arent many people that need to lose as much weight a we all do and not have to watch the calories and exercse. I know some people are lucky and can do it but most of us need to burn more calories than we eat in order to lose weight .

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
