The third day was the worst for me. Just get lots of rest, put a heating pad on your shoulders if you have pain there, and sip the Water and broth. The warm liquids felt the best for me until about 3 weeks post op, then I did better with cold stuff

Had surgery Monday and it does get better. Days 2 and half of three were terrible. I used a heating pad on my back which helped with gas pain.

Donna,

Deep breath and relax, I can say that now 6 months out and over 50 lbs lost. Many of us go through it and if they say they don't well they aren't being truthful to themselves. I know my first week, I so regretted, I was crying and telling hubby pull it out, pull it out, like it was something from Alien or something, The more I thought about it, the more I couldn't let go of the pains and actually start living again. The pain is temporary, ou have to start living life go back to your routine, minus the foods we all so enjoyed and remember its not about learning restrictions really but learning new healthy habits.

Good Luck!

I am 3 months out. Hang in there you will turn the corner in a day or so. For some reason day 3 is bad! When you can - walk it helps the gas and moving also keeps you focussed on something other than healing. Let us know how you do.

Sorry Donna! I wish it wasn't like this for you. I'm

Day 17 and feeling so much better but that first week was bad. I was regretting doing it and thinking I can't believe I chose to feel like this but fortunately it goes quickly, but sure doesn't feel like it that first week. Second week is much better. I know I've read many posts about how quickly others healed and felt better, that wasn't my case. Day 8 I was much better but it took me until day 10 until I really was pain free completely. Hang in there, I sure wish there was something I could do for you! (((((hugs))))))

I can understand. Nothing helped me except for the liquid Hydrocodone. After day 7 the pain went away. please know this will pass and you will be on your way to the rest of your life (as cliche as it may sound)

i can report today is al little better although the gas pains are still horrible. nausea has went away. i think my surgeon must have pumped me up full of air like a hot air balloon because i just can't get rid of this gas, its horrible.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
