Anybody Cheat While On Pre Op Diet???

Recommended Posts

I was not on an all liquid diet. I had a Protein Bar at 7:30 am, a Protein Shake at 10:30, 1:30, and 4:30. I then had a Healthy Choice meal at 7:30 pm. It was one with high Protein. I stuck to 1100 calories a day and lost 11 pounds in two weeks. I did not cheat on this diet but it wasn't hard to stay on it either. I used the EAS Protein Bars and shakes. The formula I was given is that when you look at the calories of the shake, say 110 calories, you cover up the last number (0) and you have 11. The protein grams should be 11 or higher. If the calories are 190, the protein grams should be 19 or higher. I still follow this formula when buying protein bars and shakes. I now get Pure Protein bars and the EAS AdvantEDGE carb control shakes. I liked the EAS protein bars that I used before I have just been unable to find them locally.

Actually only about 3 years ago was it normal practice to do the pre op diet. If you cheat it's fine but get back on track.

It's more important for gastric and sleeve patients but in a recent study Done only 1 percent of operations had to be stopped due to liver size though that was in patients with a 55 plus bmi. It's a great jump start to your weight loss good luck and stay strong.

The thought of them sewing me back up and sending me home because my liver was too big, was enough to scare me into knowing from day 1 that I would not cheat even a little bit! Even if the risk is small, I was not about to take that risk. I would say for me, the 4th day was the hardest! I've practiced doing it for 3 days off and on to get a feel for what it would be like, so when I actually started it and that 4th day hit...I went a little crazy! Then it got better, and now it just feels normal. I'm on day 18 of a three week liquid diet, and I'm definately tired of it...but it feels normal, if that makes any sense!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
