I was banded on Feb 2, 2012. I have lost lost 20 lbs. Most of that was lost in the two weeks after surgery. I have had 5 fills, total of 5.5 in a 10cc band. I can eat whatever I want and I think I am eating to much. Should I not have lost more by know and why am I not having trouble eating anything yet. How can I know for sure how much they are putting in my band. Do I really have 5.5cc in my band? Does anyone else wonder the same?

When you go in for your next fill just have the doctor/ NP pull out the Fluid and measure it before adding any additional fluid. This is what my NP did for me at the last fill. The doctor recorded putting 3cc in during surgery and I received 1.5cc at first fill. At the second fill when it was measured, I actually had 6.4cc instead of 4.5. So, get them to actually measure it. They can do it without pricking you twice. Lol

Don't give up! I would suggest doing all that YOU can do until you find the right restriction. Logging your food, watching calories, getting lots of Protein & veggies, low fat, low sugar & exercising. I was banded in sept 2011 & have no idea how much is in my band but I think I got to the sweet spot a couple of months ago. Practice all you've learned & follow the rules so you will be ready when you do get there. That's what has worked for me. I'm down 82 lbs & want to lose 25-50 more. All the best!

By the way, at 6.4cc I still had no restriction. I was given another 0.5 and that made a difference. I hope the next fill gets me into the green zone.

Thanks for the replies. I haven't told anyone that I had the surgery, so I don't have anyone that I can talk to about this.

I go back on June 4th for my next fill, and I sure hope I find the "green zone". I really thought my last fill was what I was looking for, but a day after, I knew I was not there yet.

Banded 11/28/11 and lost 12 lbs the first month. Then nothing till early April. I've lost 31 lbs since surgery. But the next 19 didn't happen till I felt restriction. I've had 6 fills. I didn't feel any restriction till my 4th fill late March. But I could still eat much more than a cup of food. Some foods would get stuck and I found I couldn't eat as much. Then fill 5 and 6 really squeezed the tummy. I may be a little too tight right now and I'm trying to re-learn how to eat with this band so tight and if I can't, I'll go back for a very small unfill.

So, I too spent 3 months in bandster hell and I too was frustrated. And I've read many similar stories from other bandsters so let us know how that next fill works for you? I'm betting it's going to make a difference and you'll be back here asking for advice on how you you can survive on so little food?

Are you weighing yor Protein? If not I recommend getting a digital food scale (walmart, target); and measuring out 3 or 4 oz. Eat that first and then low fat/cal veggies until full. If you are not measuring you WILL eat too much Protein. It took me 6 months of fills to get restriction (10.6 cc's).

I am a slow loser even though I exercise 7 days a week (minumum 60 minutes) and eat very conservatively.

I was banded in Sept 2011 and I have lost 64 lbs. I am at a stand still right now. I have a 14cc band and I am at 10 cc now. I have restriction(some) but I just am not losing. I am getting very frustrated. My Dr put me on adipex to see if I can get jump started again. I really hope this works because I like the feeling of losing but just not getting the results I wanted. Also it makes me feel like crap when family members say " Well I know someone else who had the lapband and the weight just fell off them, why arent you losing?" Makes me feel like im not doing good enough!

Anyone else having a problem?

Friends and family. Gotta love em? When I stall or plateau I can always go back and trace why I'm not losing. And, it's always too much food for me. It was toomuchfood before surgery and still is. But, it's easier to manage now. I don't know what adipex is but trust your doctor. See a nutritionist if you can? They have a lot of insight into why we don't lose.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
