Everyone Experiences Hair Loss?

Hello All,

I have my surgeon consult Thursday where I expect to pick a surgery date.

I was wondering if EVERYONE experiences hair loss. Is there anyone out there that has lost weight at a fast or steady pace that can say they did not experience hair loss? I have about 70 lbs to lose.

This really concerns me as I do not have much hair to lose. I would feel better knowing there is a "chance" I lose hair, not that it is inevitable.

THANKS!

Laura

Nope, not me.

Once or twice though, my hair has gone through a stage of being in really horrible condition and having increased fall. But I have never even approached what I would call hair loss.

For me, the first time was about eighteen months after surgery (and six months after I'd had bio ionic straightening done). I was just working SO hard to keep it conditioned, it was dry, ratty and thin on the ends. I ended up cutting off all the hair that had been straightened.

The next time was many years later, the condition didnt get as bad, but the fall increased again. I was having treatment for cancer, but the chemo I had didnt cause hair loss - for me it was rock bottom iron levels. Since then, I've struggled to keep my iron levels up and each time they fall too much - lots of breakage and fall out.

My hair has never fallen out from the root- it breaks and thins out that way. But never noticeable noticeably so I get bald spots - just enough that hubby starts to go nuts at all the hair on the floor and all over the basin in the bathroom!

So for me - iron is key to preventing hair problems.

I've had a gazillion surgeries since my band surgery and dont lose hair after an anaesthetic.

If you do not eat enough protein, then you may lose hair. It seems a lot of us take biotin to prevent hair loss.

I didn't lose any hair. But I lost my weight pretty slowly. I know I don't get in the protein intake I'm sposed to, but I never lost any hair. My doc recommends the special shampoo that you get at the hairdressers. Can't remember the name. Anyone remember?

Good luck!
