Okay by heal i mean scab over so they arent gaping anymore. I was surprised my doc took my staples out just 5 days after surgery..hgowever 2 of the smaller ones were just scars by day 7, two others were scabbed over shortly after the steristrips fell off. HOwever the larger one (5 staples) wwhich is where the port is, is still gaping..its not real deep, but its not scabbing over or anything, and the steri strips were off 5 days after staples removed.

i have two friends that are nurses..both looked at it and said its not infected, and they dont think it needs to be closed back up..but i have to keep using bandages so if anything comes out of it (its not draining or oozing but there is some wetness from the wound) it wont get on my clothes, then at night, i sleep in just a tshirt so nothing is on my waist ( the incision is right at my waist so my pants set right on it) and i let it "air out" but even that doesnt help it scab up.

just curious how long some of you had to wait for things to start to clear up so to say

5 days does seem a little quick for staple removal but then i never even had staples i had the glue closure on mine, when i was nursing we used to leave stitches 10 days before we removed them which is roughly the time it takes for the skin to start knitting together .. u can buy steri strips in chemists/pharmacy nothing to stop u putting more on if the others came off quite quickly :)

I was banded on 4/26 and I took my steri-strips off after 5 days because they itched so much. My were a little oozy the first day or so and then they started itching...which caused me to rub off the "scabs". After I have finally been able to stop the itching mine have scabbed over and are doing well. I have one right under my bra line which has been somewhat of a problem...but when I checked it this morning the scab is gone and it is now a scar. Don't worry...it'll heal.

I was banded on 4/16 and my doc told me to let the steri-strips fall off on their own and to not worry about showering with them on either. All but the big one came off on its own. I went in for my post op follow on 4/24 and the Doc removed it to investigate and said all looked fine. Everything has since healed up nicely and already starting to fade. I did not have staples either.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
