Confessions of a Lurker

Recommended Posts

Hi!

My name is Anu, and I am a lurker. I wanted to let everyone know that, generally speaking, I appreciate much of the information I read on LBT.

I know a lot of people have issues with those of us that lurk, but I lurk due to time and logistical constraints. Pretty much it is the regular stuff that everyone has-- family responsibilities, a very demanding career, working out, growing my marriage, nurturing friendships, and then there is the rest of the life-type-of-stuff. I frequently feel compelled to contribute to a LBT thread, but then I am concerned that someone will respond to it and then it will be another week or so before I can get back to them or explain what I meant, and that would make me feel bad, and look bad too I suppose.

A little LB bio-I was banded by Dr. Ortiz on September 29, 06 at 234 lbs. Today, March 1, I weigh 190 lbs and I hope to eventually weight 165. My band works great, and I have not had a single problem. I love my doctors and they have been very open and responsive to my questions and concerns. I rarely PB, I eat healthy food, and enjoy the occasional margarita. My favorite occasion is everyday at 6pm. I am a happy, fairly well-adjusted grandma that thinks Jon Stewart would make the ultimate dinner guest.

Anyway, I thought I would start this thread to see if any other lurkers had something to say. I was thinking maybe it could be a thread where folks can just put a comment or two out there, without the pressure of responding to whatever comment is made next.

I am writing this now and I probably won’t get back to LBT ‘til at least next week. Y’all go on ahead and have fun without me. Or conversely I guess my comment could just sit there and next week when I visit there it will be all by it’s lonely self...C'est la vie!

Anu, welcome, and I'm glad you introduced yourself! I have absolutely NO problems with lurkers; they are part of the reason LBT is here. Don't feel any pressure to speak up if you can't or just don't want to for whatever reason. I'm just glad to know you're getting some helpful information from the site.

See you later! (Or not!) :biggrin1:

Welcome Anu! Nope, no problem with Lurkers for me either. I just sometimes forget that there are lurkers until I'm pleasantly surprised by a PM or a new thread like this.

Okay... I'm a lurker, whew, there I said it! I've posted a few times, but not lately. I had my first conultation with my surgeon on Valentines Day, and have been sitting on pins and needles since then waiting for approval/ denial from my insurance company. After all that I found out that my surgeon just submiited my info to them YESTERDAY, when I thought they submiited it right after my consult! Man that was a lot time wasted worrying when they hadn't even received it yet. I feel like I've been in limbo since attending the first seminar in early January, waiting for referrals, letters of necessity, etc. I"M READY TO GET MY BAND!!! I've been tempted to post on lots of threads, and next time I'll give in to the temptation!! I'm not sure what holds me back from posting, but I have to say that I have laughed with, cried along with, and gleaned so much valuable info from you all! Thanks everyone, you are an inspiration!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
