Anyone Have Problems Sticking To Diet At First?

Recommended Posts

I was banded April 9th so 2 weeks post op. So I posted last week about having zero appetite, wish that was still the case. Boy is it different now. I had made the mistake of trying spaghettios last week for the feeling of eating "real food" and they went down great. That said, ive found myself trying bites of other foods not on my plan and have no issues so it makes me want those foods now! Not really feeling full when I go back to eating a yogurt/pudding or what not. I feel very disappointed in myself for not sticking to diet and that Ive damaged something or that my band slipped from trying foods and thats why food passing so easily this soon outta surgery :-/ Thanks in advance :)

I was banded 4/11. I took a bite of chicken. I did not get sick. I have drank so many Soups I am grossed out. I did not know it would be so hard post op. I guess one or two tomes wont hurt IDK. Thought about putting chicken in the.blender with a spicy something. I guess I need to hear other posts too. Lol

Looked at the 5day pouch test. That is stuff banders are supposed to be doing after the 4 week post op diet. She and I are still IN post op. Any suggestions

You are in "bandster hell" . You are doing this on will power only. It will get easier once you start getting fills. The swelling from surgery is subsiding, but your band is empty, so you it is not providing much restriction. Keep following your doc's instructions and know that it will get much easier.

A life time of habits are hard to break! Just because you get the band doesn't mean you wont want those same foods. Hang in there!

Honestly, I never get that full feeling. I just finished lunch 30 minutes ago and still feel like I want to eat something! Time for another Water bottle....:)

Holly I am the same as you. I never get that "full" feeling. I have to listen carefully to my stop signals and only eat my preportioned amount. Head hunger is a b***h.

To the OP. Please be careful as you are still healing. Give your stomach time to heal properly so you don't run into problems down the road. Everything is will power for you right now. So gather every ounce you have to get you through. It may take a few fills before you notice a difference. In the meantime practice the bandster rules (once u are onto solids) so when you get there, you are prepared.

Hang in there!! Don't beat yourself up over it. This is the sucky period that is really hard on a lot of people.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
