Hello Everyone,

I can hardly believe it has been a week since surgery. The time has flown by ! I am feeling pretty good..just a little pain in my left side (??) . I was allowed to progress to soft foods yesterday..but have decided to stay with liquids until I visit the doctor tomorrow.

I am a bit disappointed in the weight loss this week..just about 3 pounds..considering all that I am not eating..lol I wonder if my liquid Lortab was sugar free...???

Best wishes to all the newbies and prayers and good wishes for all those having surgery today and this week !

Nita

I'm on day 3 and had cream of wheat for Breakfast (my doc said I could) and it was good. However I feel no restriction whatsoever and feel like I could eat anything with no consequence. I don't get filled for another 4 weeks. Does anyone else feel this way? I'm sticking to the diet' date=' just scared because I don't feel much different than I did before my surgery.[/quote']

I was banded on may 4 and I also don't have any restriction at all! Feels like before surgery it's kinda disappointing!!! I saw dr Thursday and they said I won't feel good restriction until like 3 filly first isn't till next Thursday !!! I'm struggling bad

I'm not sure if what I feel is restriction or not since my swelling is still going down. I feel tight and gassy after I drink. I have to do liquids for two full weeks. I am not hungry at all, actually have to force myself to eat...that's new! No desire for food at all. I just want to get out of this house. I live alone and it is very hard and depressing to be here all day and night! I also have bad pain in my back and can't seem to figure out what that is from.

I am pretty much in the same boat with you- I was banded 1 week ago today and the gas pains were actually worse for me the last 2 days than any other day so far- especially on the left side. Today is the first day I have not noticed as much bloating. My official Weight Watcher meeting weigh-in is tonight and I think I will have lost about 2 pounds for the week. But any weight loss is a good thing. I hear others say that you don't see the scale go down as much until you have restriction.

AZHoseLady-No, I'm not back to work yet. Since I'm waitressing right now my doc advised not to go back for two weeks since it's pretty strenuous work. I may go back and pick up a shift here and there if I'm feeling better though.

Unlike some of you, I'm craving food. My family had pizza for dinner last night and I wanted some so bad. Even though I'm craving it I'm scared to try because of the consequences, especially since my stomach is still sore and I can't imagine throwing up with it being this sore. :)

I guess we just wait for our fill and see what happens? I do like the weight loss I'm seeing though. My highest weight was 296 last fall. I lost about 13 pounds from the waitressing job but due to the liquid diet before surgery I was down to 269 the morning of surgery. This morning I was 263. Yeah!

I'm so glad you all are going through this with me. This forum really does help.

Jackie could it be gas? I know the gas pain in my shoulder was a weird pain.

Well, tomorrow is my surgery day. A little nervous but also excited. Reading everyone's comments and such has helped me in asking the right questions to my doctor and feeling a little more comfortable as to what I'm going to be going through. I have been on the liquid diet for six days now and have already lost 8 pounds. Just hope all goes well.

Congrats to all that has been banded and hope things goes well for all of you.

being stuck at home and resting all I am doing is surfing the net and watching tv. i truly had no idea how many food commercials are on. I saw pizza hut last night and it made me hungry but not really. I thought hummm will I ever eat pizza again? I am hoping one slice will do it for me.

I'm 13 days post op. I still get pain and sensitivity at my port and incisions, especially if I overdo it. Otherwise, I feel pretty good. I did 20 minutes on the elliptical VERY slow today and did a few stretches. I am measuring my food and drinking my milk (yuck... But necessary for protein). Today I had a friend take pictures of me for an album I am putting together of my journey. I want to do this monthly.

I went through the same thing. I live alone but had family staying over for the first few days for support. Once they left, I felt very depressed and alone. It's hard when you're on pain meds so can't drive, and don't feel well enough to keep busy. I really had to pray a lot and listen to uplifting music. Is it possible for you to invite people over for brief visits? Can you read a book in your backyard or go on a balcony? Sit by an open window?

I think so, may not help that I am drinking things that contribute to the gas.

I am really anxious to get back to church next Sunday, and yes I have had visitors which really helps. I have been walking outside with the dog a little. Today is really the first day I feel up to doing something like watching a movie or reading a book. As a single person I am on the go all the time, so part of my problem is just knowing what I normally would be doing and trying to realize that I need to relax. The driving restriction keeps me from overdoing it. I'm a teacher and by next week when I return to work, I will want this time back. So I'm trying to enjoy it now that I don't feel as bad. Thanks for the suggestions!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
