Weight Bobbing....

Recommended Posts

My weight bobs around a lot for several days. Right now, I'm going back and forth between 247, 249, and 250. One day, I'm 250, the next, I'm 249, then I'm 250 again, then 247. Anyone else do this a lot. I weight every morning and it does this all week. It's very aggravating. It does eventually go down. But, I will continue to bounce back and forth like that for a week or so and then it will drop again. Someday's, when I show a 3 pound gain the next morning, I feel like I did something wrong, I try not to let it discourage me, but it's still annoying. I have tried to switch to weighing once a week, but it's so tempting each morning to see what I accomplished the previous day.

I weigh once a week I cant do the daily thing. I believe its depressing especially if you dont lose. Why should i stress myself out like that I made a vow when I got banded to weigh weekly only. Although tempted I bypass the thought to weigh in. When I was dieting in the pass, I weigh like that but no more. Good luck.

Do you see changes more clearly doing it this way. Like steady downward progress instead of up and down?

I fluctuate bad too. Yet I still torture myself with a daily weigh-in. ;)

I've been doing the same thing for the last year! Full of disappointment i decided to go back to basics did some research on the lap band do's and dont's. I make sure i am getting @least 60 calories of Protein from my Protein shakes. drinks plenty of Water each day@ least 80 oz. A day. Stay away from high sugared drinks and sweets! Eat Your Protein, protein, protein! !!!! Since i have been sticking to these rules i've lost 10 lbs. In 2 weeks! The only loss in a year! And i too used to way myself every morning, not anymore, only once a week no more obsessing over numbers on the scale ...

You lose inches before you lose on the scale! Good luck!

I have had that problem lately. Ever since I lost 100lbs. I gain 1 or 2 lbs and them I lose them. I cant seems to break the 100lbs mark. It gets frustrating but hopefully i could break it. Good luck

I do the weight bobbing thing as well. Finally it will settle at a weight for a couple of days, then start bobbing again. Once it starts, I know that EVENTUALLY it will be less. Just so frustrating to watch the scale back up once it has come off a higher number.

I have thought about weighing once a week but what if I weigh in on a high day? LOL.....really though, not trying to be too serious about it. I know it's a long term commitment

That has been happining to me and depressing me. My husband told me to quit weighing myself everyday so now I'm going to weigh myself once a week

Every time I have gotten on the scale it has been going in the right direction down. I have had no bouts of gaining weight so far, not saying it won't happen but it has not happen yet. It gives me peace to not have to stress about that scale daily. I just let my body do what it has to do and find out at the end of the week, whether I'm on track or need to change something. Good luck

I find that if I don't eat too late at night and drink plenty of good liquids throughout the day, I am usually ok. My weight might jump by .2 or .5, but nothing more.

I also weigh in every morning....afraid to let it go for the week. At least if I see it go up i quickly cut back to get it down. I know this is frustrating but it works for me. Don't want to lose my grip on the weight loss.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
