I think we all feel that way at times. I went through a bit of depression the first few weeks. I still get frustrated at times. I think I should be losing more quickly, but it is just a lifestyle change. It's been almost 4 months for me and I'm just starting to "get it". I know there will be many highs and lows. Just keep asking for support. I luckily have a sister that did it 2 years ago and has lost 100 pounds now. I'm down 52 and wish it was higher, but she reminds me it was only 65 for her whole first year. I have 130 to still lose so it seems sooooo far away, but it will come. She's been a huge support which you need. So use this to know you aren't alone. You made the right choice and when you start feeling better and your clothes get looser you will be reminded it was the right choice. I feel for you! Just know it will get better!!! :) :) :)

Good luck. I have not Been banded yet and I am having second thoughts. I look so fat in pics though and its only a matter of time before the health issues come. Stay strong. You can do it.

this is so right. as for me?? i was not only overweight but unhealthy looking, pudgy in the face, swollen feet and legs. now, after just one week, my face is transforming rapidly back to its proper shape. ive had lots of comments from people since friday when i went out. this morning again, heaps of comments on how much better i look, how good i look. even my hubbie as commented. so... hang in there everyone, you can do it, and whats more, you will.

I have the cloudy day lap band blues here in Los Angeles today. But let me tell you it cheers me up to know my struggle is onward and upward unlike last year when I would comfort myself with food and end up in that disasterous cycle.

Good Luck to you. Remember its something we all go through in all our different ways but this is a place we can ask for help and support without shame and without judgement.

Lots of luck and good energy being sent your way.

I defiantly agree like you I was a emotional eater I am so happy to know that this feeling is only temporary and my rainbow will becoming soon!

I, too had that moment. I was getting in bed with my husband who I love dearly and it hit me. I want to be healthy but I also want to feel sexy at the same time. So, as i put my sleep mask on (UGH) and looked at my incisions, I thought wth did I do. Now that I am losing weight, and enjoying small achievements-I know that I did the right thing. Everyone has to decide what they are willing to sacrifice. This is my sacrifice and I plan to make it work. Is it and will it be tough at times-absolutely but so is anything that is worth having. Give yourself some more time. Everything will get better. Look at your small achievments. :D

larch... i agree... you are never too old to want to feel sexy for your man, take it from me. i would much rather have some faint small scars on my belly than have mountains of belly rolls and bad health to boot. amen to that.

I am sitting watching an old biggest loser US ashley says to her mother, 'but mum what if i go into the house and cant do it', mum replies, 'but what if u can' ........ that to me was a defining moment in thinking that this mountain i had to climb was just too big.

Allow yourself those moments of regret then move on from them, you will look back at this time and smile believe me .. i am still smiling now !

I dont know if some are religious but today my god spoke to me yesterday was a really rough day for me I began to question my decision on my WLS but as I was listening to bishop TD Jakes he explain that sometimes god will tie you up (i.e lapband) in order to help you get to your destiny and utilizes you in his will so I now know that this decision could never be a mistake but simply a blessing

thank you guys so much for support the weather here is really cloudy and grey which is really not helping me either but your support truly does help

You're definitely not alone.... Maybe Try some extra Vitamin d? Especially if the weather is cloudy.... Low Vitamin D levels have been linked with depression and the blues.

Post op blues are actually SOOOOOO common, and not many people realise it and adjust their minds so that they remember, when you're in pain and feeling like crap, and your body is coming off anaesthetics, and you can't see the immediate results of the surgery, that of course you're going to feel like crap.

Be kind to yourselves, everyone. Unlike, say, a boob job, where you can see the results immediately, the first few days can feel like all pain and no gain. But it will get better in time.

God will definately meet you exactly where you are at, thats for sure. I agree with TD, you help make it a blessing. the ball is in our court now.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
