I was banded on 3-23 & had a hiatal hernia repaired also. I have nicknamed my swollen belly (where the incisions are) Bandit! Lol. I feel & look like I'm prego all over again. Is this normal? The area is still very sensitive & I don't have any gas pains. Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I'm clearly ready to deliver Bandit for good! Lol

Thanks! My husband was banded on the 8th & had virtually no swelling! I guess he's just a fast healer!

Do you know when we can start putting an anti-scar cream on. They are really ugly looking.

hi Katy.. i was done on the 22nd and i have exactly the same as you. in fact i have three large rolls now, more swollen on one side than the other. lol.. not the best sight in the world. there doesnt appear to be much sign of my stomach going down yet i wonder how long it will take?? its bulging even more over my waist, which is elastic.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one & this is normal. My husband was insisting something was wrong, even though I knew there wasn't!

He realizes it's normal now, his swelling was gone after 3 days which is why he thought it was infected! It's so awesome having him go through this with me & having this forum! It makes this process so much better!

its great for you both. you can share everything and talk it all out together. its harder trying to explain to a spouse who hasnt been there and done that, even though they are sympathetic. good on you both. yes, i agree, this forum has made things so much easier for me as well. its a blessing. :)

For some bizarre reaon I had no swelling after lapband surgery, but have since had two other laparoscopic surgeries and had crazy tight nine months preggie belly both times. It dissipated a lot within a week but took a good two to three to really disappear. I was in hospitl five days with each of those surgeries so spent the worst of the bloating in pyjamas,

Had a Tummy Tuck last Tuesday though and OMG I feel like a snare drum, lol. And this time its not gas bloating that will go away easily.

So my swelling has finally gone down except at the large incision site. I look like I have a cone protruding out of my stomach! Anyone else have this? I've been sick with a nasty cough. I'm really hoping & praying I didn't do any damage. My follow-up appt is Wed morning.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
