Banded On March 23Rd!!!!!

Recommended Posts

I had three weeks off in total after my banding...but I was 197kg and there was alot of fat to get through I guess..... After my gall bladder op it took longer to heal because of my weight...but I was grateful that I didn't have the pain anymore of gall stones!!!

MY readjustment surgery was horrific...but in saying that only a month earlier I had been assaulted extensively so all of my tummy was inflamed!!

I had lol readjusted on the 25th of March 2009. Its been three years of hell and I am just starting on my journey again!! wishing you all the very very best!! and keep chewing on the meds for Gas...It will come up and hit you when your least expecting it!! xoxox

Ok so day 3 of post-op not so bad still really sore. I was planning on going back to work tomorrow but I decided not to rush it. I have a hard time sitting for to long get gas pains in my back. However today I had soupy cream of wheat it was so yummy and it hit the spot. But still getting up and moving around. Im starting to go crazy being stuck in the house but im not ready to venture out yet. So how is everyone else doing???

Hey twin! Same here. Just had the surgeon's office email a doctor's note for a couple more days. Although, I'm not feeling horribly (thank God!), the thought of commuting in the city and sitting for more or less the entirety of 8 hours can't be good. So I should be going back Thursday. It is a bit tough to be home all day but I've had lots of visitors n actually went to a friend's house for a couple of hours last night which helped. I'm glad u're coming along great. Idk if u've kept up ur walking. If not give urself some fresh air for 10 minutes or so. It's bound to help!

Hey Twin Im so glad your doing great. I have been walking all through the house and in the back yard because I have a busy 2y/o little boy who could live outside if I let him. So I spend quite a bit of time outside. I have had tons of people over as well because Im a single parent so I was needing help with my little boy. But so far so good. Im still hungry but trying to stay focused.ttyl

Oh okay. Sounds good! My doctor wanted the bandages removed today n the steri strips that were beneath them are supposed to fall off on their own. It felt good to remove them n see that's what's below isn't so scary. Lol

I think removing them bandages really has helped! All of a sudden I'm not as sore. Of course it's still THERE but it isn't a severe when I twist around or get out of bed now. The Protein intake probably isn't going as great as it should be. I've had some chicken broth n a Protein Shake, but I should probably have some more protein throughout. I'm really hungry. I'm trying to pretend I'm not, so I haven't been eating (well, drinking) that much. =\ N u???

My dr and his office staff were very strict on my post op diet. Im supposed to have nothing but liquid Powerade zero. Vitamin Water zero, water, sugar free Jello and Protein Shakes. I have yet to go to the store and get another flavor besides vanilla of Protein mix. Im already tired of vanilla. But beside that I have been reading other ideas on here about what everyone is eating post op and Im like how can they eat that??? IM HUNGRY im not going to lie my stomach starts to growl and my ming starts to wonder about food. This is something Im going to have to overcome on my weight loss journey however I can't kill myself and torture myself I just have to be a little bit more creative with my choices. Im not saying this road is going to be easy but it will be worth it. I had some soupy cream of wheat yesterday I had maybe 4 bites of it and had to put it away and when i came back it had thicken up and when I was eating it I wasn't feeling as satisfied and I felt very uncomfortable afterwards. So today I think im will take things slower. Im going to have my morning protien shake but this time im going to put in a tablespoon of sugar free flavored coffee creamer.< /span>

Hi guys.. I had my lap band surgery on 3/21/12. It went well! I was actually a little worried but really excited. I still feel a bit soar but I do walk around a lot and I have begun laying on my belly. I think I'll be going back to one of my jobs tomorrow. I luckily have not had an issue with gas which I heard is HORRIBLE! So I'm kinda glad about that. I have about 28 oz of Protein shakes a day (50 grams of protein). I drink GNC's pre-made chocolate shake. Taste the best so far. I also eat sugar free Jello, no sugar added all natural fruit juice and popsicles, broth and as much Water as I can. So far I've taken everything pretty good and I have started taking in some pureed foods. I have my follow up with my doctor next Monday.

I'm glad I found a few other people who have gotten banded around the same time. Hope you all continue to do great! Good luck!

Hi Ladies!

I was banded on 3/23/12 as well! I am also a single mom, but I have a wonderful 14 year old to help me with my 18 month old. I reacted badly to the anesthesia and spent most of the day in recovery. My surgery was at 9am and I didn't come to until almost 3.

Well, here I am and it's tuesday and I only feel minor pain in my incisions. No more gas and no pain meds. liquids until Friday , then soft/mushy after that. I can't wait for soft boiled egg whites! lol

Keep me posted on your progress ladies!

I actually had coffee earlier and took my Vitamins and cleaned the house up a bit and did some laundry. I was burning calories and drinking Water I actually felt great. One of my bandages fell off which i was scared to look at but it's not that bad. Now sitting here on the computer drinking a caramel Protein shake it's super good and realxing before I start making dinner for my son and bath time. Your lucky I have to be on 2 weeks of liquids b4 I can start mushy food. But yes Im looking forward to scramble eggs myself. Well stay in touch hope you have a speedy recovery!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
