I can't seem to get much Jello down. I will eat about 1/2 of one of the little cups and then either one of my kids gets the rest of my dog. My dog loves the stuff.

I was really really hungry and suppose to be on only liquids, but I ate some really soft mashed potato's yesterday and I slept better because my tummy wasn't making all the grawling sounds.

I use the Protein Shots sometimes. They are easy to stick in your purse for on the go energy. I get them at Walmart.< /p>

The two best shakes I have found so far are Pure Protein Frosty chocolate (got a Wal Mart) and Lean Body On The Go Bananas and Cream (got at Vitamin Shoppe). Neither have an aftertaste to me at all.

I agree, Frosty Chocolate Pure Protein is all I can stomach.

I was banded on April 17th and am always thirsty. After the first week I was hungry all the time but that has subsided a bit. Started mashed foods yesterday, it feels nice to actually get to chew food..lol

What do they taste like?

They kind of have a Gelatin taste. I get the fruit punch flavor. The texture is almost like a thin Jello.< /p>

That's how I get my Protein in.....Frosty chocolate Pure Protein. That's all I can imagine drinking especially when the regional sales manager at GNC said that the other protein powers are not very good at all and need to build up a taste for it. I liked the Pure Protein right from the beginning.

I cannot wait till I can have mushies....I understand the being so sick of the same foods. I will notbe having Soup broth for a LONG time and I was really sick of Jello but that seems to be working itself out....lol.

Next thing is a bit more personal.....has anyone else had trouble going to the bathroom? I was banded last Friday and still haven't gone. I am wondering if there is something liquid I can do like a tea orsomething. Anyone else?

Thanks

My doctor gave me meds for going to the bathroom.. It was a liquid (looked like cough med) But you could try hot Decaf tea that might work.

I was banded April 30th and am starving. This liquid diet is soooo tough and I really want to cheat but I keep telling myself I didn't spend all this money to screw this up. I was told I wouldn't be hungry or even interested in food - food is all I can think about! I just keep telling myself only a few days to go.

Anissa-

Like I said in an earlier post, I was that way too. I thought it was just nausea and a part of recovery. But I made sure that I started having more like a Protein Shake and Soup broth. Then a while later, I had a pudding or a popsicle. That helped so much.

Do you think part of it is just post surgery/I am sick of fluids/I am missing real food and the way I use to eat?

Going to try some hot tea tonight to see if I can get things moving.

For Constipation, I'd try milk of magnesia. I'd start out with a small dose though, and work your way up, if it doesn't work after 12 hours or so. You don't want an explosion, or to have to run to the bathroom.

Good luck.

So far since surgery (Last Friday), I have only had Soup broth 3 times. I figured that since I am gettingmy milk and Protein Shakes down along with pudding and occasional juice and Water that I am okay. But that is ALL I have had so far.

Is anyone else surviving on just the shakes and pudding with occasional juice and water?

I know that I have to concentrate on getting more water.

I also have been doing creamy broths, found some good ones with hardly any sugars and salts...I have been so tired of yogurt, I opened on today and took a sponnful and could not do another...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
