Surgery In 5 Days And Haven't Told Anyone.....

You read it correctly. I'm self pay so I did not have to go through the diet part first, although I'v been on a diet for the last 15 years. :) How do you go about informing people, ect. I'm nervous about social functions and such. Thanks!

  • Everyone has their own way about how and who and why. Other than my husband I'm telling my 2 adult children and best friend. If, after surgery, my weight loss is a topic of conversation I will tell

  • You're going to a Center of Excellence so you shouldn't have any problems at all with your surgery, in fact, being self pay, you should be able to go home the same day (bring a driver), and be back t

  • Only my immediate family know that I had the surgery (March 9th). I don't like my co-workers (yeah, long story: they would be very critical). One lady did mention that I had lost weight (pre-op diet)

That's me too... I have no reason to tell anyone really.my kids and my wonderful boyfriend. I am not a person who tells any of my other life business too so why would I share this.. I never give anyone the chance to hate on my life in any way possible. I see it at work all day long. A worker just sharing her thoughts to a fellow co worker and they spread some thing so little around the place like a high school. Terrible. Just terrible. Well not me.

I had a real hard time deciding what to do. I am an open book and telling half-truths don't work very well for me. I don't work (for money anyway) but i belong to a homeschool co-op with 40 other moms. It was a kind of allor nothing choice. I hardly ever miss classes so me planning to miss a day was a big red flag that something was going on. Plus I have lost like 20 pounds in the last 3 weeks and people are noticing.. So I decided to be all in. My closest friends I told up front, the otherswill probably fine out through the grapevine, but I know most (if not all) will be supportive.

I hope i can be an example for others that need to take control again. Whether it be throught diet and exercise or by surgucal intervention..(or combination of the two) ...whatever is needed... so many of my friends are in worse shape than me.
