Considering Throwing In The Towel And Going Bypass

It's been 16 months post op .. only a 40 pounds weight loss. Nothing lost now since Oct. 2011. Pretty tough to get thru a plateau and keep doing everything right when it dosnt seem to be helping any. I have seen the doctor, and nutritionist more times then I can count, at the gym 3-4 times a week, tried adding protein powder again to jump start a loss and managed to gain 3 more pounds. Water intake is ok, meals are small, no snacking, I just don't know what else to try and change and neither the nutritionist or doctor seem to have much advice except "keep trying"

Well, I am about 18 months out and have lost less than you. It sounds like you are doing the right things....how would bypass be better or different? Maybe your calories are too low if you are working out? I don't know what to suggest....hope you figure things out!

Perhaps you need the malabsorption of bypass. Have you spoken to your surgeon about doing a revision? There are people who were unsuccessful with the band that became successful with bypass.
