I WAS BANDED IN 2006. I did reach my goal but have now put on 2 1/2 stone due to my band slipping and having to have it emptied in May last year and have had to have surgery to reposition it.

Hi Vicki.

Well, I can say, I have shared your experience. I did have band slippage after my first year of lapband. Luckily insurance paid for revision surgery and placement of new band. I was crushed emotionally when it happened, but my doctor assured me he was sure I had followed all rules precisely. I am not sure what caused the slippage, but he had told me the last couple of times he had looked at it under fluoroscopy with barium swallow that it looked like I had what he called "a generous pouch" which is a sign of possible future slippage.

So when was your revision for replacement? we can encourage one another here.

Good luck and thanks for your post.

thanks good luck. seeing doc today.

Do you still see your surgeon after lapband on a regular basis? They released me to come only once a year unless I felt I needed an adjustment. I miss having to go every 3 months for accountability and really wished I could start going back every three months. I know you would think this far out from my surgery that I would not still need that kind of accountability but I do!! LOL They did not take my brain out, where all the mind games go on with you thinking you want to eat, chocolate cravings, etc. LOL

Good luck at your doc visit

I had my surgery on 6 Jan 2012. I feel so much better it is unbelievable. However i havent had a fill yet as the NHS has now refused to pay for my op and have refused to fund follow up care. I am waiting to see if the doctor can achieve anything regarding this before going bak to private care if i have to . My weight is rising at the moment which is making me very sad!

It always seems to be very up and down with the band. Its either too tight or too loose. I really dont seem to have hit the 'sweet' spot and am fed up of having to go up and down with my clothes sizes. I have 3 different wardrobes depending on where i am at the time!

UPDATE- I just got back from seeing Doc. I was up 6lbs from a yr ago (she was fine with that). I told her I was not happy with the weightloss for past 2 yrs. I told her I know a lot of it is because of bad choices on my end. They gave me a fill. 1/2 of what they took out last time. I will be on liquids for 48 hrs. wacko.png lol! Lets see how that goes (god help the hubby and kids) ;-) Anyway, doc said i have pretty much lost most of the weight they thought the band would help me lose. Sounds like I am on my own pretty much now. I still need to lose about 40 more pounds!!! AGAGAGGAG! I mean I should have less hunger now with a fill nad have to eat slower. I just need to stay away from BAD foods!!! So, I guess the band is not my magic pill ;-) I still have to work! I am very frustrated going up and down with weight,. They recommended weight watchers.

Well at least only 6 pounds in a yr they should be proud of u! Congrats on maintaining.

I like u am on my own after they told me they thought I had lost more than they anticipated with lapband; I like u have more to lose and we can do it!!!

We have the best tool available and look how far u have come!! Great job!

I have faith we can keep losing and prove them to them we are more than a statistic!

Here is my next plan of action:

Getting excited got first of a six-month program appointment on Thursday; having to use new followup surgeon as my lapband surgeon quit doing them and providing followups for lapband. New doc requires u attend 6-month program will be good for me as will be new accountability every month to them and hoping will kickstart my weight loss and break my plateau!

Hope everyone is doing well today here.

Well went started 6-month follow up program at new lapband surgeons office. Went over and planned goals before next visit in one month.

Working on getting back to strictly following 10 Rules of Lapband. Top 3 goals for me right now :

1. No drinking with meals and up yo one hour following a meal.

2. Exercise at least 30 minutes 5 days week

3. Drink more Water and less coffee.

Praying I can get back on track.

How is everyone else doing?

I had surgery on 6 Jan 2012 and touch wood have been very well since. Havent had a fill yet as still trying to get follow up care on the NHS. so dont want to have a fill privately incase they use it against me. Problem is i have put on 8 pounds since op. Was loosing at first but now my stomach has settled down i am so hungry again all the time. i am also having trouble with trapped gas in hte upper part of my tummy. It swells up like a balloon by evening. Doctor just says it is normal and i should ask my surgeon. Problem is the NHS (Grimsby) have now refused to pay for op so i have been discharged and until i see if i get funding in Welwyn Garden City (where i now live) i am in limbo!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
