I Need Some Help

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone.

I was banded in Feb 08.

I did really well and the band worked well for me initially and I lost about 70 pounds in the first year. I had 28 pounds to go but stalled and didn't really mind as I was happy with that weight. I maintained that weight for 2 years.

However in the last year I've slipped into bad habits and have been eating around my band and gained about 7 - 10 pounds. But in the last 6 months I lost all restriction and gained another 20 pounds.

I went back for a fill in January and have some restriction now but am still eating around the band (chocolate, drinking with meals, heavy handed on the sauces etc).

Please help because I can't remember what I am meant to do.

Over here you're banded and that is it. You pay for each fill but it's a case of in and out and no real help or advice.

I don't think I need a fill. For example I can only eat a couple of bites of red meat or bread. But I can eat a large bag of crisps (chips to those from the US ;) )

I could really use some help and advice because I am floundering a bit and at a loss as to what I did the first time to make the band work for me.

Thanks

Maybe you could try going back on liquids for a few days, kind of like a "do-over." There's a thing called the 5 day pouch test that some people on here swear by. I haven't been banded yet, but that's what I would start with. I wish you the best of luck! :)

I would suggest staying away from the crisps and chocolate (believe me, that is not me judging you as I am the same way!! And I am starting to take my own advice). You could try the pouch test if you feel it would help, but try going back to your band eating rules and following them. Good luck!

Thanks everyone. I'm starting day one of the 5 day pouch test, trying to break some bad habits. Liquids only for the time being.

I feel your pain, I was banded in 2009 I ve lost 104 but find myself stuck there with my final goal just 20 lbs away. I am finding myself alot of times eating around my band, its just me chooseing Soups, too much yogart ,sugar free cool whip and sugar free ice cream. My dr reminds me when I show up with a few extra lbs and he is right. I must focus of eating whole foods primarily protien but still only 4 oz@ each meal. We are only visually fooling ourselves with the notion of eating around the band get us more. Its false it seems like more but actually the full sensation will not last long and then the picking and snacking starts and thus not useing our TOOL correctly. I hope my confession helps you I feel better when I am more honest with myself........................keep it SOLID my new motto

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
