I'm just curious if anyone else has experienced severe pain 1 day post at the port? Meaning, unbearable to sit and get up from a chair or even walk for long periods of time. I'm not sure if my pain meds are strong enough or if it could possibly be something worse. Nothing else is uncomfortable.

I just had surgery this morning. The Port spot is the only one that hurts and it's pretty bad. Medical cutbacks seem to be taking it's toll on staff help as well:( I waited 5 hours for a room after surgery after that I needed to just get out of bed, because it hurts too bad to lay down. Hopefully tomorrow is better, because I am really swollen and hurt when I inhale too much. If you find a way to help the pain let me know. Can't wait to go home tomorrow. Wish you all the best.

I had significant pain for 4 days after surgery. Couldn't get up from chair or bed without help from my husband. I am 16 days out from surgery and my port area incision is closed but very sore. However, it improves a little each day and that's progress!

Its just frustrating because I know others that said they went out shopping, got their nails done, etc the day after surgery and I can't even take a shower :(

As everyone says, everyone heals differently so I guess it will just probably take me a little longer to heal.

LMM2012, I am also sore when I inhale. I will keep you posted if I find anything that helps. Good luck to you both on your journey!

I'm 14 days post surgery and I gained all the strength back in my abdomen. Now, I am getting a strange sensation UNDER my port area. When I go from a sitting to standing position, I feel like it is snagging on something. Hoping I didn't tear a stitch? I'm an orchestra director and do a lot of arm waving.

Anyone else experience this?

I had surgery yesterday and the neck and shoulder pain is bad. My stomach only hurts where the port was put in, especially when I try to get in bed or sit down and get up. They said that it may cause pain for about 3 weeks, just not as bad as it is right now. Plus the gas they blow you up has to be worked out.TG for liquid Lortab to get me through this weeknonod.gif Hope you start feeling better soon, just don't lift too much right now.

Bandedgirl2012-I think that is my issue too with the pain. I was prescribed Hydrocodone 7.5 (1 tbsp every 6 hours). I called my surgeon and the office told me to double the dose to see if that helps. I will keep you posted if it does. You might want to check back with your doctor to and see if they have any recommendations.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
