How Often Do People Weigh Themselves?

Recommended Posts

How often do people weigh themselves? I was banded on 12/2/11 and only lost 8 lbs pre and post surgery so I am crazy about weighing myself every day and then getting discouraged what do other people do, I feel like I am not lloosing as much weight as others and I had one fill and I am not eating alot.

I'm a nut...I weigh myself several times a day but I only record the first weight of the day, done at the same time, after first am void, naked, before I hop in the shower. I look at the trend week on week.

I weigh myself everyday. I record it once a week. It keeps me on track. I figure not weighing myself for so long is why i got like this to begin with! You are still healing. Keep following the rules your doctor gave you and get your body moving and the weight will start to come off. Just keep at it....Good Luck to you!

I use to weigh myself every day...became obsessed with it. When I asked my doctor why my weight fluctuates so bad, he told me that I needed to pick ONE day a week to weigh myself at the same time. So now I weigh myself on Saturday morning when I wake up. At first I had my husband hide my scale so I was not tempted to weigh every morning. I made a chart with all the Saturday dates through the end of the year so I can track my progress. Good Luck to you!

Currently, I weight myself daily...but I may switch to the weekly version (as I think I am too obsessive about it!).

For the first couple of months post op I weighed myself daily. I now only weigh myself weekly, sometimes biweekly if I forget to weigh in first thing in the morning on weigh in day. I noticed early on that because of my low calorie intake, if I consume a couple hundred extra calories one day, the next I am up a pound or two, so I quit weighing everyday. Plus I am more in maintenance mode with less than ten pounds I'd still like to lose, but don't need to, so I am not as obsessed with ticking off the pounds anymore. Good luck to everyone on your journeys!!!

I weigh myself weekly, there is less stress if the scale has not moved!

I was banded on 12/29, so I weigh once a week on Wednesday, my first post-op was on Wednesday so that is the reason I weigh on that day.

I weigh myself twice a day, once when I wake up then again before going to sleep. I know it seems a bit obsessive but it works for me.

Oh my gosh I am crazy with it!! I weigh several times a day and it will set my mood for the whole day. I can change as much as 3 pounds day to day. I have had several people tell me ( my dr included ) to only weigh once a week he would rather I only weigh a couple times a month.

:( It's so hard not to tho, but it will make you CrAzY!!! lol

When I was initially loosing, I weighed myself once a week and recorded it. When I started maintainance I starting weighing myself every day, with idea of staying within a 2-3 pound range. Well, I have had some regain, I'm about 20 pounds heavier than I want to be. I continue to weigh everyday, at this point it's become such a habit I can't help myself. I'm on a 2nd good day in a row. I want to loose ten before I visit a fried in Feb.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
