Fast Food For Bandsters!!!

Recommended Posts

Hey Y'all! I just saw Chick Fil A featured on the news because they are offering healthier kids meal options and they seem to be perfect for bandsters.

I just wrote about a blog about it ... so rather than retyping it all again... here's the link:

I go there often! I've got three kids and they love their fruit cups with their chicken. It's a lot healthier then Mcdonald s!

I am going to read it now-I like fast food but can't do most of it. Wendy's chile works and so does taco bell- i order just 1 taco and it goes down great. Also McDonald's chicken wrap-minus the wrap. It's really hard because I can't eat much for lunch. I met my firend for an after work drink and appetizer. We order the nachos with beef and that went down great too. I am always looking for something that I can handle. Most times when I go out to eat I whine up bringing most of the food home.

Hello All,

My favorite fast food/restaurant seem to be Red Lobster. Its really not fast food but thats my restaurant of choice these days. I order the crab and spinach dip with chips and 1 pound of crab legs and i have no problems. All goes down well, I also eat at Taco bell and I love the Soup from Chick Fill-A.

The kids meal from chick fil a is perfect for me. I got the grilled chicken nuggets and the portion is perfect. For the drink i got unsweet tea with no ice and save it for 1 hr after my meal.

Daphne's Greek Cafe now has a wrap sandwich that is available in gyros, chicken, and something else..steak maybe? Very good! They will also let you order off of the child's menu with no questions.

I also tried the grilled nuggets from Chick-Fil-A and they were yummy!!! I added the fruit salad with them and could only eat a little of that. I am still after 2 months having a hard time with fresh fruits and veggies. Red Lobster is one of my favorite restaurants now...they have a grilled selection dinner that has grilled shrimp, scallops and chicken. I eat the shrimp, scallops and half of the steamed broccoli, and take the chicken and rest of the broccoli home for lunch the next day. If I need a quick lunch on the go, Taco Bell has pinto Beans with cheese which is loaded with Protein and goes down easy.

I stay away from FF as much as possible b/c it was one of my worst habits pre-band. When I do eat it, it is Wendy's chili or a Chipotle vegetarian bown with black Beans. The kids' meals at Chick-Fil-A sound like a good option, especially since I am not a huge fan of chicken. It's something I can eat and get my nutrition when I am out, but I won't enjoy it so much that I will abuse it.

Chicken-Tortilla-Soup.pngOMG!!! Tried their chicken Soup while at the mall and I am in love! It was so good and a little spicy too! Next time I go I am going to get a few extras and freeze them! I didn't use the ag of toppings to save on calories. Thanks again for the heads up!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
