I was banded in 2005 after years of trying to lose weight unsuccessfully (I gained my weight starting in 1998.) The band did not work for me at first. In 2006, my doctor discovered some pretty bad thyroid issues. He treated me and I lost around 50lbs. I stopped getting fills and went back to my old ways. In March of 2011, after seeing The Biggest Loser for the first time, I decided to rededicate myself to diet and exercise. I stayed on a 1200 calorie a day diet and exercised like crazy. Over 9 months, I only lost 20 lbs, despite putting in an incredible amount of work. I took another break. I gained about 7/8 lbs of the weight I lost back despite eating pretty well. I was also having issue with my menstrual cycle/hormones. My doc upped my thyroid meds and my hormones went back to normal. I just started trying to lose weight again and have lost the 8lbs I gained in 2 weeks (restarted 1/22.) I am at 200.4 right now, which is my low point since getting banded. I am rededicated to losing the rest of my weight through a healthy diet and working out (lots of running.) I would like to be at 185 by the end of May.
