You're staying over night? Why?

My doctor requires a one night stay. No complications or anything. Just had some issues with my pain button not working but the pain wasn't that bad!

Yes, I am losing weight!!! and yes the pain is gone. Somedays I have a little back pain but I think that might be some gas also. Thanks for asking though. Everyday is a better day and I am so glad I had this done.

thats great to hear... so in time you will feel on top of the world by the sounds of it. it must be exciting to know that having the band fitted is behind you now... every day is going to get better and better . have you been looking at clothes yet?? or is it too soon for you?/ ive still got to go through the surgery bit... i cant wait to be on the other side. then we can compare notes.

I have been looking at clothes but I think I am going to go a different route. I think until I reach my goal weight, I am going to shop at consignment shops & goodwill. Then when I get to my goal I will go on a gigantic shopping spree. LOL.... When is your surgery? You will love how you feel once it is all over.

So today I am 5 days post op and last night I finally slept in my bed rather than the couch in a sitting up position. I felt great this morning but now the gas pains have starting once again. It is a great feeling to be banded and that part over I am down 17 lbs since my pre op visit. Just wanted to wish the rest of the February bandsters good luck!!!

Hi all! I am banded! Yesterday was great, check in was noon and surgey was at 2 and I left the hospital at 7. Not really any pain on any of the incisions yesterday but a lot of chest pain from the gas left behind. Didn't sleep well last night as I am not a good back sleeper. The abdomen pain did start today but not bad, feels more like I did a really massive workout yesterday. Focusing on walking as much as I can and drinking some Gatorade and having some Jello.< /p>

So glad to read that everyone is doing well. May today's surgeries and tomorrow's surgeries go well also! Thank you all for your support and good wishes. Mine is tomorrow! So very nervous, but also quite anxious to start this new chapter of my life!

I had to pre register at the hospital yesterday. This IS HAPPENING! I have to keep telling myself. It's no longer an idea, a thought, or a far away future: the time has come. I can hardly believe how time has flown from 6 or 7 months ago when I was thinking about getting banded. This site has been so very helpful to me! I truly appreciate everybody here!

Tomorrow is the day and I'm on pins and needs waiting for the hospital to call me and let me know what time to be there. To add to my anxiety I also have an internal job interview at 3pm today.... Ready for this day to be over.

My Dr also has orders for me to stay over night... I have no comorbid issues its just his policy.... He rather take care of any side effects at the hospital than dc me only to have to come back....

I just got home had surgery yesterday morning. I ended up having to stay the night since I was in extreme pain. I was surprised since everyone's always posting how easy and painless it went. Why was I so unfortunate?? I did everything right with my pre op diet :,( and I'm usually pretty pain tolerate. All they gave me was 5 cc of liquid Percocet my surgeon never came and checked on me i was so scared and alone until they finally let my mom in and see me FOUR hours later. The scars don't hurt it's more inside of my stomach that hurts. Im a million times better today thnk god and im relieved this is finally over with. I know everybody's different and I don't mean to scare anyone that hasn't gone in yet, but I suggest arranging plans for Meds incase you stay the night cus since my doctor left they couldn't give me anything that worked. Sorry for the rant but I had to get it out, because today is the first day of my new life and I believe the hardest part is over. Thnx for listening guys xoxo

Stace2882 Dont feel alone. I was banded on Feb. 15 at noon and didnt get to my room till almost 7pm. I take awhile to get out of anthestia. When I seen so many people prior to surgery saying how its only gas pain and even that isnt bad I had hope. But like you I wasnt so lucky. I had to stay the night while I see others were in and out from surgery in like 6hrs. Everyone is different and thats just fine. I was pretty sore when I got home and the worst of it was gas. I know they say walk, but it was so bad I didnt want to...but I forced myself and you burp and fart away, get it out of there. Not gonna lie but day 7 was my best day until then I just felt beat up really. It gets better! Started preop diet on Feb. 3 at 342lbs and am now 319lb as of this morning. Hang in there!!!

Tomorrow is the big day. I go in at 8am. I hope it all goes smooth. I can't say I'm not nervous. The hard part is getting through today on only Clear Liquids, then nothing after midnight. I just hope this works. I'm tired of being over weight. I'm ready for the change. Lost about 8lbs on the pre op diet, hope that was enough, it sure did feel good to step on my scale and see some numbers I haven't seen in years. Good luck to everyone! I took all of your advice and stocked up on broth, gas x, Jello, popsicles, Certs, chap stick and some lose, comfortable clothing. Thank you all for sharing your stories. It makes me feel I'm not alone. I do not personally know anyone who has gone thru this before so this has answered many of my questions.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
